    摘要: The output of an analog to digital converter is selectively controlled to provide a non-linear response by addition or removal of current from resistors in the ADC reference level resistor ladder so that voltage drops are reduced or increased across selected resistors. In one embodiment a current mirror is employed to remove current at selected nodes of the resistor ladder. Span current and current mirror current can be controlled so that span and the desired non-linearity will track when span is altered.

    摘要: This invention relates to an automatic camera exposure control device comprising a first light measuring circuit including a photoelectric element receiving light through the objective lens of the camera and generating a first output proportional to the logarithm of the brightness of an object to be photographed, and a circuit for providing a second output indicative of the film sensitivity and the lens aperture value, the light measuring circuit for providing a first signal indicative of the sum of the first and second outputs and a second circuit including a pulse genrator circuit for generating clock pulses and a counter for counting the clock pulses and for producing a second signal of a stairstep waveform corresponding to the counting of a pulse; a voltage comparator circuit for comparing the second signal with the first signal and for producing a signal when the level of the second signal exceeds that of the first signal; a third circuit composed mainly of a gate circuit for stopping the counting of the pulse upon receipt of the threshold level signal from the voltage comparator circuit; and a shutter control circuit including a transistor for inverse logarithmic conversion and for producing a collector current proportional to the exponent of the second signal applied to its base, and a capacitor to be charged by the collector current of the transistor and a switching circuit responsive to the voltage charged in the capacitor in excess of a predetermined level for actuating the shutter to terminate the exposure interval.

    摘要: An A/D converter suitable for use in a system in which the signal power of noise increases with the signal power of the signal, such as an imaging system, utilizes a variable quantization system for converting analog signals into digital signals. The variable quantization is controlled so that at low signal levels the quantization is similar or identical to conventional A/D converters, while the quantization level is increased at higher signal levels. Thus, higher resolution is provided at low signal levels while lower resolution is produced at high signal levels.

For example, an analog to digital converter is disclosed that includes an analog input that is provided to a comparator bank. The comparator bank receives a reference indicator, and is operable to provide a current output based at least in part on a comparison of the analog input with a reference threshold corresponding to the reference indicator. The analog to digital converter further includes a range selection filter that is operable to receive the current output and to generate the reference indicator based at least in part on a prior output of the comparator bank.

    摘要: An ADC circuit includes multiple comparators and a controller coupled to the comparators. Each of the comparators is operative to generate an output indicative of a difference between a first signal representative of an input signal applied to the ADC circuit and a corresponding reference signal. The controller is operative to perform at least one of: (i) activating a subset of the comparators during a given sample period being; and (ii) controlling levels of the corresponding reference signals of the comparators as a function of a level of the input signal. A number of active comparators during the given sample period is no greater than one less than a number of regions into which the input signal is quantized.
