    摘要： Described are processes for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of a smoking tobacco comprising the step of intimately admixing with smoking tobacco an aroma or taste augmenting or enhancing quantity of at least one substance selected from the group consisting of:A. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, trans-2-hexenal, and cis-3-hexenol;B. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, cis-3-hexenyl formate and trans-2-hexenal;C. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, cis-3-hexenol, cis-3-hexenyl formate and trans-2-hexenal; andD. Cis-3-hexenyl methyl ether.Also described are smoking tobacco compositions produced according to the above process. Also described are smoking tobacco articles comprising a cylindrically shaped body of smoking tobacco; in intimate contact with said cylindrically shaped body along its length, a wrapper; and in intimate contact with one end of said cylindrically shaped body, a filter; and in intimate contact with either said filter, said wrapper or said cylindrically shaped body at least one substance selected from the group consisting of:A. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, trans-2-hexenal, and cis-3-hexenol;B. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, cis-3-hexenyl formate and trans-2-hexenal;C. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, cis-3-hexenol, cis-3-hexenyl formate and trans-2-hexenal; andD. Cis-3-hexenyl methyl ether.

    摘要： This invention provides tobacco and non-tobacco smoking compositions which contain a heterocyclic-hydroxy-substituted carboxylate compound as a flavorant additive.In one of its embodiments, this invention provides tobacco compositions which contain a heterocyclic-hydroxy-substituted alkanoate flavorant additive such as ethyl 2-(2-butyl)-3-hydroxy-3-methyl-3-(3-pyridyl)propionate: ##STR1## Under smoking conditions the above illustrated heterocyclic-hydroxy-substituted alkanoate additive and its pyrolysis products flavor the mainstream and sidestream smoke.

    摘要： Described are the bicyclic compounds having the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein Z is benzo or cyclohexano and processes for preparing same and compositions containing same for use in augmenting or enhancing the aroma and/or taste of foodstuffs, chewing gums, toothpastes and medicinal products; tobacco; perfumes, colognes and perfumed articles, produced by a process described by the reaction: ##STR2## wherein X is chloro or bromo; Y is chloro, bromo or OR; R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 lower alkyl, that is: methyl, ethyl, n-propyl or i-propyl; B is MOH, MH, MOR', trialkylamine, or M.sub.2 --CO.sub.3 (wherein M is alkali metal such as sodium or potassium); and R' is C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 lower alkyl, such as methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, i-propyl and t-butyl with the proviso that B is trialkylamine or an alkali metal carbonate when Y is chloro or bromo and B is MOH, MH or MOR' when Y is OR.The above mentioned compounds produce:A. In foodstuffs, chewing gums and medicinal products, a sweet, green, fruity, coumarinic, marzipan-like aroma and taste.B. In tobacco, a sweet, spicy, vanilla-like, woody, hay, tobacco-like aroma prior to smoking and a sweet, spicy, hay, tobacco-like aroma on smoking.C. In perfumes, colognes and perfumed articles, sweet, fruity, and green aroma nuances.
