Abstract:
Provided herein are embodiments relating to metal-insulator-metal diodes and their method of manufacture. In some embodiments, the metal-insulator-metal diodes can be made, in part, via the use of an evanescent wave on a photo resist. In some embodiments, this allows for finer manipulation of the photo resist and allows for the separation of one piece of metal into a first and second piece of metal. The first piece of metal can then be differentially treated from the second (for example, by annealing another metal to the first piece), to allow for a difference in the work function of the two pieces of metal.
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described for using different wavelengths and/or using different frequencies of light to encode each of information data and control data in a beam of light and to use the encoded control data to route the encoded information data through a network. Routing may be effected using optical switches configured with transmissive and reflective properties, which may allow transmission of certain encoded control data and may allow reflection of certain information data, depending upon the routing for the travel of the light through the network.
Abstract:
The disclosure concerns a minimally-invasive medical instrument with a rotatable inner shaft mounting a medical tool. The medical tool may be, for example, a forceps, a grasper, a cutter or other medical tool useful for therapeutic or diagnostic procedures. The medical tool is desirably used in endoscopic, laparoscopic or other minimally-invasive procedures. The jaws or other end-effectors of the tool are operated by a first control wire, which will act to open or close the jaws or other end-effectors of the tool. A second control wire is used with a camming mechanism to transform linear movement of the second control wire into rotary motion of the inner shaft, thus also rotating the medical tool. The medical tool may thus be oriented at the surgical sit as desired by the surgeon, by rotating the tool without having to remove and re-place the tool within the patient.
Abstract:
In some examples, a mobile device includes a radiation sensor configured to measure an amount of radiation surrounding a corresponding device that is communicatively connected to a second device and/or a third device, a comparator configured to compare the measured amount of radiation to a predetermined radiation threshold, a wireless communication manager configured to report to the second device and/or the third device a result output from the comparison module, and a collaboration manager configured to collaborate with the second device.
Abstract:
Provided herein are corrosion-resistant reactors that can be used for gasification, and methods of making and using the same. Some embodiments include a corrosion-resistant ceramic layer. According to some embodiments, the corrosion-resistant ceramic layer has a negative charge. At temperature above water's critical point (for example, 374CC and at 22.1 MPa I 218 atm), water can behave as an adjustable solvent and can have tunable properties depending on temperature and pressure.

Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to technologies to deter side channel data center attacks. An example method may include receiving an incoming packets destined for a network, grouping, at a gateway, the incoming packets into groups, wherein a size of the groups is based on predetermined statistics, and wrapping the groups into packages of normalized size.
Abstract:
Technologies are provided for preventing abuse of software-defined datacenter networks. In some examples, an SDN abuse prevention module within a control layer of an SDN may use graph analysis rules and monitor network paths over time to detect and prevent abusive network conformation change command series. Instance-generated network paths may be analyzed to determine if the paths attempt to repeatedly traverse one or more sensitive network paths. If so, the paths may be implemented or denied based on, among other things, the time scale within which they attempt to repeatedly traverse the sensitive network paths.
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described for controlling a flight path of a UAV based image capture system for solid modeling. Upon determining an initial movement path based on an estimate of a structure to be modeled, images of the structure to be modeled may be captured and surface hypotheses formed for unobserved surfaces based on the captured images. A normal vector and a viewing cone may be computed for each hypothesized surface. A set of desired locations may be determined based on the viewing cones for the entire structure to be modeled and a least impact path for the UAV determined based on the desired locations and desired flight parameters.
Abstract:
Hydrophilic coating compositions and methods to make and use the compositions are disclosed. The compositions include a polymer comprising guanidinyl, amidinyl, hydroxyalkylaminoalkyl, or dihydroxyalkylamino alkyl functional groups. The functional groups react with atmospheric CO2 to form ionic or polyelectrolytic groups, thus transforming a coated surface from hydrophobic to hydrophilic upon exposure to CO2.
Abstract:
The disclosed technology receives at a second computing device a message from a first computing device comprising at least an indication of a physical motion, a requested motion, or an indication of a camera control operation. The indicated motion can correspond to a physical motion made to the first computing device. The indicated camera control operation can correspond to a camera control operation made at the first computing device. The technology requests to physically move the second computing device if the received message indicates a motion; and controls a digital camera associated with the second computing device if the received message indicates a camera control operation made at the first computing device.
