Abstract:
Provided herein are embodiments relating to metal-insulator-metal diodes and their method of manufacture. In some embodiments, the metal-insulator-metal diodes can be made, in part, via the use of an evanescent wave on a photo resist. In some embodiments, this allows for finer manipulation of the photo resist and allows for the separation of one piece of metal into a first and second piece of metal. The first piece of metal can then be differentially treated from the second (for example, by annealing another metal to the first piece), to allow for a difference in the work function of the two pieces of metal.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses disclosed herein relate to a recyclable thermoplastic unit that includes a casing body composed of a first thermoplastic having a first melting point. The casing body also includes a first locking mechanism that is configured to mate with a second locking mechanism of a sacrifice layer. The sacrifice layer is composed of a second thermoplastic and includes the second locking mechanism. The sacrifice layer has a melting point that is greater than the melting point of the casing body.
Abstract:
Display devices and color filtering layers having an oriented nucleic acid layer are disclosed. The display device can include a light-orienting layer disposed between an oriented nucleic acid layer and a polarizing layer. In some embodiments, polarizing layer may include an oriented nucleic acid layer. The color filtering layer can include an oriented nucleic acid layer and two or more pigments. Methods of making the color filtering layer are also disclosed.

Abstract:
Provided herein are corrosion-resistant reactors that can be used for gasification, and methods of making and using the same. Some embodiments include a corrosion-resistant ceramic layer. According to some embodiments, the corrosion-resistant ceramic layer has a negative charge. At temperature above water's critical point (for example, 374 CC and at 22.1 MPa I 218 atm), water can behave as an adjustable solvent and can have tunable properties depending on temperature and pressure.

Abstract:
Display devices including one or more alignment layers with elongated polarizing agents are disclosed. The alignment layers may be configured to align liquid crystal molecules and polarize light applied to the alignment layers. Methods of making and using the display device are also disclosed, as well as methods of making the alignment layer.
