    Abstract: A one-way rotary damper comprising a housing, a rotor consisting of a braking disk accommodated in a cavity of the housing and a shaft unitary with the braking disk and projecting toward the outside of the housing, viscous oil filling the housing cavity for applying shearing resistance against rotation of the rotor, a driven gear rotatably mounted upon the end of the rotor shaft projecting outside the housing so as to be free to rotate with respect thereto and formed on its surface facing the housing with a concentric depression consisting of a shallow circular depression and a deep outer annular groove surrounding the circular depression, a coupling disk which is identical in diameter with the circular depression and is fixed on the end of the rotor shaft projecting outside the housing so as to be disposed upon the circular depression, and a clutch spring disposed so as to extend along a radially outer surface of the coupling disk and a radially inner surface of the outer annular groove for enabling the driven gear to rotate freely when a torque is applied thereto in one direction and for rotating the rotor together with the driven gear when a torque is applied thereto in the other direction.

    Abstract: A door hinge includes a hydraulic retarding device for cushioning the closing action of a door. The hydraulic retarding device has a cylinder body which confines a fluid operating space to receive hydraulic fluid therein. The fluid operating space includes a pair of longitudinally extending cylindrical spaces and an intermediate longitudinal passage provided between and communicating the cylindrical spaces. A vane unit is provided in each of the cylindrical spaces and has a blade which defines a longitudinal clearance with an inner surface of the cylinder body. A baffle extends longitudinally into each of the cylindrical spaces and is disposed between the passage and a respective one of the vane units. The baffles are substantially arc-shaped in cross-section and face away from each other. A gate valve is provided in the passage between the baffles. The vane units are operably associated with the door movement so as to open the gate valve to permit the hydraulic fluid to flow through the passage during a door opening action and so as to close the gate valve to prevent the hydraulic fluid from flowing through the passage and to permit the hydraulic fluid to flow only through the clearance between the vane units and the inner surface of the cylinder body in order to retard the movement of the vane units during a door closing action.

    Abstract: According to the invention, there is provided a damper for a flapdoor that does not show any damping effect when its movable shaft of the damper is rotated with the door in one sense whereas it effectively damps the rotary movement of the flapdoor when the movable shaft is rotated with the door in the other sense, wherein a one-way clutch for engaging or disengaging the movable shaft with a movable member depending on the sense of rotation of the movable shaft to cause a viscous shearing drag in the viscous fluid contained in the damper and a power source constitute so many integral parts of a coil spring. A damper for a flapdoor having such an arrangement can have a simplified configuration as compared with a damper provided with a separate coil spring as power source and a separate one-way clutch and therefore can be realized with reduced dimensions. Moreover, since such a one-way clutch can be prepared from a coil spring without requiring any additional processes and by simply engaging a portion of the coil spring with the movable member, the rest of the coil spring functioning as power source, the damper can be realized at a significantly reduced cost.

    Abstract: A rotary damper is disclosed having a hollow casing and a power receiving shaft extending exteriorly of the casing. The power receiving shaft turns a movable vane within the casing to pressurize a working fluid. A stationary partition member including a dividing wall and a dividing vane is positioned within the casing and journals the movable vane for rotation within the casing. The movable vane is provided with a through hole equipped with a one-way valve and the dividing wall is provided with a plurality of arcuately spaced orifices.
