Abstract: In an HEMT device, a gate region is formed in a wafer having a channel layer, a barrier layer, and a passivation layer, overlying each other. Drain and source electrodes are formed in the wafer, on different sides of the gate region. A dielectric layer is formed over the gate region and over the passivation layer. Selective portions of the dielectric layer are removed by a plurality of etches so as to form one or more cavities between the gate region and the drain electrode. The one or more cavities have a plurality of steps at an increasing distance from the wafer moving from the gate region to the drain electrode. The cavity is then filled with conductive material to form a field plate coupled to the source electrode, extending over the gate region, and having a surface facing the wafer and having a plurality of steps.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing semiconductor devices includes providing one or more semiconductor chips having a surface with electrical contact pads and a package mass encapsulating the semiconductor chip. The package mass includes a recessed portion leaving the semiconductor chip surface with the contact pads exposed, the recessed portion having a peripheral wall extending from the surface of the semiconductor chip to the outer surface of the package mass. Electrically-conductive formations are provided extending over the peripheral wall of the recessed portion with proximal ends electrically coupled with the contact pads of the semiconductor chip and distal ends at the outer surface of the package mass. The recessed portion is filled with a further package mass by leaving the distal ends of the electrically-conductive formations uncovered.

Abstract: A system includes an intellectual property circuit; a general purpose input/output circuit coupled to the intellectual property circuit via a data path; and a switch coupled to the data path. The switch is activatable via a switch enable signal propagated on a switch enable path having a first end coupled to the intellectual property circuit and a second end coupled to the general purpose input/output circuit. The system further includes a secure link circuit coupled between the intellectual property circuit and the general purpose input/output circuit along the switch enable path. The secure link circuit is sensitive to security statuses of the intellectual property circuit and the general purpose input/output circuit, the secure link circuit being configured to admit propagation of the switch enable signal on the switch enable path in response to the intellectual property circuit and the general purpose input/output circuit having identical security statuses.

Abstract: A computing system includes a first hardware element having a first accelerometer and a first gyroscope, and a second hardware element having a second accelerometer and a second gyroscope. The first and second hardware elements are moveable with respect to each other. The computing system recursively generates a result signal indicative of a relative orientation of the first and second hardware elements with respect to each other. The result signal may be generated by generating a first intermediate signal indicative of a angle between the first and second hardware elements based on signals generated by the first and second accelerometers and generating a second intermediate signal indicative of the angle based on signals generated by the first and second gyroscopes. The result signal indicative of the angle may be generated as a weighted sum of the first intermediate signal and the second intermediate signal. At least one of the first and second hardware elements is controlled by on the result signal.

Abstract: Color signals to be displayed on a colored display surface and having a first gamut in a color space, are subjected to radiometric compensation. An embodiment includes displaying on the colored surface a set of control points of a known color, acquiring via a camera the control points as displayed on the colored surface and evaluating at least one second color gamut of the control points displayed on the colored surface. The second color gamut(s) is/are misaligned with respect to the first color gamut due to the display surface being a colored surface. The method may also include evaluating as an intersection gamut, the misalignment of the second color gamut(s) with respect to the first color gamut, calculating the color transformation operator(s) as a function of the misalignment evaluated, and applying the color transformation operator(s) to the color signals for display on the colored display surface.

Abstract: A communication method includes receiving a first message of a Short Message Service containing a first command that requests execution of a proactive command. The first message is decrypted according to protocol SCP80 to extract the first command. The execution of the proactive command is requested in order to obtain a response to the proactive command. A second message of the Short Message Service is transmitted to the remote server and indicates that the response to the proactive command has been obtained. A third message of the Short Message Service is received and contains a second command from the remote server. The third message is decrypted according to the protocol SCP80. A response message is generated as a function of the response and encrypted according to the protocol SCP80 to generate a fourth message of the Short Message Service transmitted to the remote server.

Abstract: A receiver circuit extracts data from a serial data signal. The serial data signal contains a data packet having a first format with a first number of bits or a second format with a second number of bits based on a selection signal. The second format comprises the bits of the first format followed by one or more additional bits. The receiver circuit has at least one shift register having a total number of bits equal or greater than the number of bits of the second format and a switching circuit that selectively connects the serial data signal to one of the shift register serial inputs as a function of the selection signal. When the first format is selected and the respective bits received, the bits are stored in given positions of the one or more shift registers. The switching circuit also, when the second format is selected and the respective bits received, stores the bits of the first format included at the beginning of the second format in the same given positions of the one or more shift registers.

Abstract: Radiofrequency energy that is captured by a radiofrequency power harvester is stored in a storage capacitance. One or more user circuits are supplied with energy stored in the storage capacitance. The harvester operates in alternated charge and burst phases with captured radiofrequency energy stored in the storage capacitance in the charge phases and supplied to the user circuits in the burst phases to perform user circuit tasks. In response to detection of completion of the user circuit tasks in a burst phase, the harvester causes operation to shift to the next charge phase.
