Abstract:
In a method for assessing a plurality of electronic devices, cooling efficiencies for the plurality of electronic devices are calculated, where the cooling efficiencies comprise measures of energy usage requirements to respectively maintain the plurality of electronic devices within predetermined temperature ranges. In addition, the plurality of electronic devices are ranked according to their cooling efficiencies and the plurality of electronic devices are stored according to their rankings.
Abstract:
In a method for correlating vent tiles with racks based upon vent tile settings and rack inlet temperatures, the vent tiles are set to a first setting, the first vent tile settings are recorded and the temperatures at the inlets of the racks are detected at the first vent tile settings. One of the vent tiles is closed to obtain a second setting, the second vent tile settings are recorded and the temperatures at the inlets of the racks are detected at the second vent tile settings. In addition, the vent tiles and the racks are correlated based upon the settings of the vent tiles and the temperatures detected at the first vent tile settings and the second vent tile settings.

A docking station includes a housing receiving a portable computer. A liquid-filled hollow structure is provided on a portion of the housing. The liquid-filled hollow structure is in thermally conductive relation to the portable computer when the portable computer is docked in the docking station such that heat is transferred from the portable computer to the liquid-filled hollow structure.
Abstract:
A method for semi-autonomous operation of a robotic device in a room. In the method, one or more goal points are set and the distances between the robotic device and the one or more goal points are determined. A first one of the one or more goal points is selected and the robotic device is maneuvered to travel to the first one of the one or more goal points. In addition, one or more functions at the first one of the one or more goal points with the robotic device are performed
Abstract:
A spray cooling system for semiconductor devices. An ink-jet type spray device sprays droplets of a cooling fluid onto the semiconductor devices. The devices vaporize the liquid, which gets passed through a roll bond panel, or other heat exchanger, and is pumped into a spring loaded reservoir that feeds the spray device.
Abstract:
An improved apparatus is disclosed for cooling the power dissipating components of a computer subsystem, including microprocessors and hard disk drive assemblies. The apparatus utilizes the computer subsystem's chassis or enclosure, by configuring it as a roll bond panel formed from two sheets bonded together to define a fluid channel therebetween. Various concentrated sources of power dissipation are mounted within the enclosure on special component panels that themselves define a fluid channel. A working fluid is disposed within the channels of the component panels and the enclosure panel. During operation, heat generated by the sources of power dissipation is transferred to the working liquid within the fluid channels of the component panels and, in turn, to the working fluid disposed within the fluid channel of the enclosure panel, for dissipation by convection. In one disclosed embodiment, the working fluid undergoes a reversible phase change, to facilitate an efficient transfer of heat throughout the enclosure panel and thereby to heat the panel to a substantially uniform temperature.
