Abstract:
A method for weaving fabrics that comprise in at least some sections multiple layers, especially one-piece woven (OPW) airbags comprising single-layer, double-layer and multi-layer sections. Weaves or weave combinations are produced in the double- or multi-layer sections that are different from the plain weave.
Abstract:
The present invention features “molecular torches” and the use of molecular torches for detecting the presence of a target nucleic acid sequence. Molecular torches contain a target binding domain, a target closing domain, and a joining region. The target binding domain is biased towards the target sequence such that the target binding domain forms a more stable hybrid with the target sequence than with the target closing domain under the same hybridization conditions. The joining region facilitates the formation or maintenance of a closed torch.
Abstract:
A sound system for a motor vehicle and a method for defining a functional scope of a sound system include a control unit, an input unit for operating the system, a display unit, a unit for generating source data in the form of audio data, an amplifier unit for amplifying the source data, one or more speakers, and a bus system that assures transmission of the source data and control data for controlling the units among the individual units. At least one unit other than the control unit of the system has a memory assigned to it, in which the functional scope of that unit is represented. The functional scope can be transmitted through the bus to the control unit, and the transmitted functional scope can be used in the control unit for at least partially forming the functional scope of the entire system. The control unit, the input unit and the display unit are connected to one another in such a way that through the use of the display unit, operating menus required for operating the entire system can be shown in accordance with the functional scope of the entire system, and the operation of the system can be performed with the aid of the input unit on the basis of displays in the display unit.
Abstract:
A container capable of containing components of a mixture in chambers separated by a peelable seal constructed from a multi-layer film. The multi-layer film has at least one layer of a RF-responsive material and an interior layer of non-RF responsive material. When the layers are subjected to RF energy, the RF-responsive layer heats the interior layers resulting in a bond in the form of a peelable seal between the interior layers. The peelable seal is capable of withstanding external pressures to the container, such as from dropping the container. The seal may be selectively opened to allow mixture of components contained therein.
Abstract:
A port/spike assembly including an enteral spike having a diameter substantially less than the diameter of a standard parenteral spike. The assembly also includes a port having a tube with an outer wall which defines a generally cylindrical elongated bore. A frangible membrane is disposed inside the elongated bore, and divides the bore into upper and lower bore sections. A selector ring is provided in the upper bore section for permitting insertion of the reduced diameter enteral spike and for preventing the insertion of a standard parenteral spike through the membrane. The assembly prevents inadvertent insertion of a parenteral spike into an enteral feeding system.
Abstract:
A device to locate internal faults in a high-voltage capacitor battery that has a plurality of symmetrically parallel and series-coupled capacitor banks arranged in parallel branches coupled by shunt branches. The phase angles of the shunt currents flowing in the shunt branches relative to the total current flowing in the parallel branches are determined. A fault is located in one of the capacitor banks based upon these determined phase angles.
Abstract:
A monitoring system for detecting earth contact of at least one phase of a polyphase network. Each of the phases in the network is connected by a capacitive-inductive filter to a neutral node which is connected to earth. In one embodiment of the invention, the current flowing from the neutral node to earth is detected by an induction current transformer which provides a signal responsive to said earth current. The output signal of the induction current transformer is conducted through at least one low pass filter for suppressing harmonics, and rectified to produce a direct current voltage signal, the amplitude of which is proportional to the amplitude of the fundamental frequency component of said signal. A fault indicating signal is produced when the direct voltage signal exceeds a predetermined value.
Abstract:
A multi-stage turbocharger arrangement (TLA), having a high-pressure stage, the high-pressure turbine of which has an associated first bypass valve; and having a low-pressure stage which is arranged downstream as viewed in the flow direction of the exhaust gases and which has a low-pressure turbine and a second bypass valve, wherein at least one of the bypass valves is arranged in an associated, cooled housing module.
Abstract:
A sensor housing (1) includes a basic body (2) and two tube sections (4, 9) projecting from the basic body (2). At least a first one (4; 9) of the tube sections has an outside thread which is interrupted in circumferential direction by at least one recessed facet (15, 17; 19, 20). The facet (15, 17; 19, 20) extends—from a center plane of the first tube section (4; 9) being parallel to the longitudinal axis of the second tube section (9; 4)—on at least one side of this center plane essentially perpendicularly to it.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a microwave plasma deposition process and apparatus for producing diamond, preferably as single crystal diamond (SCD). The process and apparatus enables the production of multiple layers of the diamond by the use of an extending device to increase the length and the volume of a recess in a holder containing a SCD substrate as layers of diamond are deposited. The diamond is used for abrasives, cutting tools, gems, electronic substrates, heat sinks, electrochemical electrodes, windows for high power radiation and electron beams, and detectors.
