Abstract:
A turbine flowpath apparatus for a gas turbine engine includes: a flowpath component exposed at least partially to a primary combustion gas flowpath of the engine, the flowpath component comprising low-ductility material; a metallic annular stationary structure surrounding the flowpath component, including a bearing surface which bears against the flowpath component, so as to restrain the flowpath component from axial movement in a first direction; and a spring element disposed between the flowpath component and the stationary structure which resilient urges the flowpath component in the first direction against the bearing surface.
Abstract:
A method to schedule resources in delivery of healthcare to a series of patients is provided. The method comprises the steps of identifying an availability of the series of resources to deliver the healthcare to each patient; calculating a predicted duration to deliver the healthcare to each patient; calculating a schedule including a block of time dependent on the predicted duration for each resource to deliver healthcare to the patient, the block of time including a start time and an end time; calculating a confidence level in the schedule, the confidence level including a probability that one or more of the resources will not be available for the block of time of the schedule or calculating a likelihood that one or more resources will be available for the block of time in the schedule; and outputting the schedule and the confidence level in the schedule for display.
Abstract:
A system and method for managing an enterprise is provided. The system and method may be based on a layered architecture including a data center that may store all documents and data abstractions for an enterprise. One or more services may interact with an enterprise resource planning system and/or a customer relationship manager to facilitate interaction with the documents and data abstractions. A client access point of the system may include a graphical user interface that includes one or more enterprise management functions for managing the enterprise documents and/or data abstractions. The enterprise management functions may include a user proposal manager, an enterprise proposal manager, a proposal library, a content health manager, an archive library, a bid center, a contracts manager, a resume manager, a debriefing center and/or a projects manager. The enterprise management functions man re-engineer business processes and enable users to manage all aspects of an enterprise using a single unified interface.
Abstract:
The invention discloses simulation of a process of discrete events or tasks having a plurality of available resources associated therewith. A database stores a plurality of models, each including a plurality of one or more entity, task, and resource parameter, and dependencies and relationships. A model application communicates with the database and is configured to receive commands from a user, to retrieve one of the plurality of models and the corresponding plurality of one or more entity, task, and resource parameter in response to a user command, to receive input data corresponding to one or more entity, task, and resource parameter from a business database system, and to generate a simulation model based on the business database system and the input data. An optimizing application in communication with the model application and is configured to receive commands from a user, to select one or more entity, task, and resource parameter of the simulation model with respect to an objective function, to define bounds of the one or more entity, task, and resource parameter selected, to generate values for the objective function based on the one or more of the entity, task, and resource parameter selected, and to generate financial performance data based on the values generated for the objective function. A server performs a simulation of the process by processing the simulation model and generates an output data file containing output data representative thereof. The objective function comprises a combination of system financial performance measures (e.g., operational margin) and process performance measures (e.g., cycle time, throughput, utilization.
Abstract:
A singular combination irrigation apparatus may be used to combine the function of a regulator, valve, and filter into a singular combination, rather than merely connecting the three separate devices together. The irrigation apparatus may include a unitary manifold through which water may flow. This unitary manifold may include a valve-receiving portion and a filter-receiving portion. The valve-receiving portion is positioned upstream of the filter-receiving portion. The irrigation apparatus also includes a filter assembly secured to the filter-receiving portion. The irrigation apparatus further includes a valve secured to the valve-receiving portion. The manifold may also be manufactured or molded as a single, unitary piece.
Abstract:
A method is described for affecting changes in a business including a multiple interrelated business processes. The method includes: (a) providing a business information and decisioning control system to a user, the business information and decisioning control system having a business system user interface; (b) generating an output result using a business model provided by the business information and decisioning control system, the output result providing guidance on the control of the business; (c) presenting the output result to the user via the business system user interface; (d) receiving the user's selection of a command via the business system user interface, where the command prompts at least one of the interrelated business processes to make a change, the change based on guidance provided by the output result; (e) transmitting instructions to the at least one of the interrelated business processes, where the instructions are based on the command; and (f) executing the change in the at least one interrelated business processes in response to the command.
Abstract:
A catheter is provided for the injection of therapeutic agents at a target site within a patient's body. The catheter includes a first elongated shaft having a distal end and a proximal end and a lumen extending therebetween. The catheter also includes a second elongated shaft in the form of a needle slidingly disposed in the first elongated shaft, the needle having a distal end and a proximal and a lumen extending therebetween. The catheter may include a flexible sleeve, wherein the flexible sleeve compresses along the inside of a curve and elongates along the outside of a curve. The catheter may additionally or alternatively include an adjustable distal tissue contact surface, wherein the position of the distal tissue contact surface may be adjusted with respect to a stop surface for stopping the advancement of a needle. The catheter may additionally or alternatively include a fluid pressure contact monitor.
Abstract:
Reducing effects of thermal expansion in electronic components. An electronic device can include a support, such as a leadframe. An electronic component can be supported by the support. A first flexible layer can cover the electronic component. A second more rigid layer can cover the first layer. The first layer can be made from a material that is more flexible than the second layer thereby creating a mechanical buffer layer between the second layer and the electronic component such that the electronic component is protected from thermal expansion of the second portion caused by changes in temperature. The electronic component can be a laser. The first and second materials can be selected to disperse an optical emission from the optical transmitter.
