    摘要: Disclosed is a magnetroresistance effect type complex head including: (1) a magnetroresistance effect head including: a magnetroresistance effect element 15 which includes a central region 12 for detecting a magnetic field from a record medium and a pair of terminal portions 13, 14 for supplying a bias magnetic field and a current to the central region; a pair of magnetic separators 11, 16 confronting each other, sandwiching the magnetroresistance effect element, and each including an insulator; and a first and second magnetic shield films 10, 17 confronting each other, and sandwitching the magnetroresistance effect element and the pair of magnetic separators; (2) an inductive head including: a first magnetic pole film 17 which is also used as the second magnetic shield; a magnetic gap 18 piled up on the first magnetic pole; a second magnetic pole film 19 piled up on the magnetic gap; and a coil pattern for generating a magnetic flux which flows through the first and second magnetic pole films; (3) a pair of pits 20 recessed in a direction perpendicular to an air bearing surface and disposed on both lateral sides of the second magnetic pole film to determine a width of the second magnetic pole film; and (4) a pattern 8 for determining a position of the pair of recesses.

    摘要: In a magnetoresistive effect composite head, magnetic shields oppose each other on a slider main body made of a ceramic material through a predetermined gap, and a magnetoresistive effect element is sandwiched and stacked between the magnetic shields with a magnetic spacer layer made of an insulator. A recording head portion uses one of the magnetic shields as a first magnetic pole, and has a second magnetic pole formed on a surface of the first magnetic pole opposite to the magnetoresistive effect element through a magnetic gap, to record information on a recording medium by means of a magnetic field generated in the magnetic gap. The magnetoresistive effect element includes a central region made of a spin-valve element to sense a medium field, and end regions for supplying a bias field and a current to the central region. The second magnetic pole is constituted by a stacked film of first and second magnetic films having different saturation magnetizations. The first and second magnetic films are close to and far from the magnetic gap, respectively. The saturation magnetization of the first magnetic film is set to a value larger than that of the second magnetic film. A method of manufacturing the above head is also disclosed.

    摘要: When depositing an alloy film on a substrate by sputtering, a thickness of the deposited alloy film is measured and accumulated with respect to one alloy target. A sputtering power or a sputtering gas pressure is calculated in accordance with a predetermined equation defining a desired saturation magnetostriction using the accumulated thickness. Thus, the sputtering power or sputtering gas pressure is controlled to obtain the desired saturation magnetostriction.

    摘要: In order to improve a wear resistance and recording and reproducing properties of a magnetic head which has a magnetic core having a magnetic gap and a penetrated hole, a pair of reinforcing members holding the magnetic core therebetween, each having an opening corresponding to the penetrated hole, and a winding wound onto the magnetic core and the reinforcing members through the penetrated hole and the opening, each of the reinforcing member is a non-magnetic substrate which is made of a ceramic material essentially consisting of 2-30 weight % CaO, 2-50 weight % TiO.sub.2, and 30-80 weight % NiO and having an average grain size of 2 .mu.m or less. Alternatively, another ceramic is used which essentially consists of 2-30 weight % CaO, 2-50 weight % TiO.sub.2, 30-80 weight % NiO, and 0.2-1 weight % Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, and having an average grain size of 2 .mu.m or less, excluding zero.
