摘要: A process of producing a member having a pattern. The process includes preparing a first mold having a pattern surface provided with a first uneven pattern at a surface of the first mold, and preparing a second mold having a pattern surface, provided with a second uneven pattern at a surface of the second mold, including a shape portion corresponding to an outer peripheral shape of the pattern surface provided with the first uneven pattern. When the pattern is transferred onto the member in a transfer area including (i) a peripheral area, which is an area not large enough to transfer an entire first uneven pattern of the first mold, and (ii) an area inside the peripheral area, in the area inside the peripheral area, the first uneven pattern of the first mold is transferred plural times to form a pattern group of the first uneven patterns, and in the peripheral area, the second uneven pattern of the second mold, including a shape portion corresponding to an outer peripheral shape of the pattern group, is transferred.

摘要: A structure fabricating method plastically deforms a target portion of a substrate, to thereby fabricate a structure having an inclined segment that is inclined relative to a principal surface of the substrate. The method includes forming a projection on the target portion to project from the principal surface of the substrate or from an opposing surface of the substrate on the side opposite to the principal surface, and applying a force to the projection to plastically deform the target portion such that the target portion is bent in a direction from one surface of the substrate on the side where the projection is formed, toward another surface on the side opposite to the one surface.

摘要: In a wavelength locking method, and in an apparatus and a network system using the method, a wavelength of a tunable filter is caused to track a wavelength of light from a light source by controlling a control signal by controlling an operation condition of the tunable filter in a feedback control system of a wavelength locking system. According to the method, an error signal relevant to a deviation of the wavelength of the tunable filter from the wavelength of the light source is generated, an operation signal for feedback control of the wavelength locking system is generated by using the error signal, the operation signal is detected, and a bias component of the control signal is corrected or renewed based on the detected operation signal such that an absolute value of the operation signal does not exceed a predetermined value.

摘要: A driving method of the present invention drives a semiconductor laser which is provided with at least first and second electrodes through each of which current is injected into the semiconductor laser. Varying current is injected through the first electrode when the frequency of the varying current is in a high frequency band. Varying current is injected through the first electrode while phase-shifted current, whose phase is shifted relative to the varying current, is injected through the second electrode, when the frequency of the varying current is in a low frequency band which is lower than the frequency of the high frequency band. Feedback-control may be performed for controlling a ratio between amplitudes of the modulation current and the phase-shifted current based on a light output from the semiconductor laser. The varying current includes at least modulation current modulated according to a predetermined signal or negative feedback current produced by an electric signal obtained by detecting fluctuation of oscillation wavelength of a light output from the semiconductor laser. Thus, an optical signal radiated from the laser can be desirably stabilized over a wide frequency band range.

摘要: A wavelength control method controls a wavelength of output light from an optical transmitter used in an optical communication system for performing wavelength-multiplexing. The method includes steps of causing light-output means of the optical transmitter to output light and guiding the output light of the light-output means and light used in the optical communication system to a wavelength tunable filter. The method also includes sweeping a selective wavelength of the wavelength tunable filter, and detecting, based on the sweeping, if a wavelength spacing between a wavelength of the output light, which is output from the light-output means, and a wavelength of the light used in the optical communication system, which is adjacent to the wavelength of the output light on a wavelength axis on either a longer wavelength side or a shorter wavelength side, is wider or narrower than a predetermined wavelength spacing. The method also includes performing control in which the wavelength of the output light is caused to approach the adjacent wavelength when the wavelength spacing is detected to be wider than the predetermined wavelength in said detecting step and the wavelength of the output light is caused to be away from the adjacent wavelength when the wavelength spacing is detected to be narrower than the predetermined wavelength.

摘要: In an optical communication system for performing wavelength division multiplex communication on an optical transmission path, an output light wavelength control is performed as follows in an optical transmitter. A wavelength of light on the optical transmission path is detected so as to search for an unoccupied space, in which output light from the self optical transmitter does not cause an interference with another light on the optical transmission path. The wavelength of the output light from the self optical transmitter is controlled so as to be a wavelength falling within the unoccupied space. A wavelength of another light which is adjacent to the wavelength of the output light from the self optical transmitter on one of the longer and shorter wavelength side along a wavelength axis is set as a reference side wavelength, so that the wavelength of the output light is controlled to set a wavelength interval between the reference side wavelength and the wavelength of the output light from the self optical transmitter to be close to a predetermined first wavelength interval or to maintain the wavelength interval to have a value in the neighborhood of the predetermined first wavelength interval.

摘要: An optical communication network includes at least one optical transmission path, a plurality of terminals connected to the optical transmission path, a plurality of optical nodes for receiving and transmitting an optical signal between the optical transmission path and the terminals, and a controller for controlling the intensity of a signal output from each optical node so as equalize its intensity with the intensity of a signal input to each optical node from the optical transmission path. In this optical communication network, the loss of a signal's intensity is determined solely by the total extension length of the optical transmission path, so that the optical modes can be freely re-connected in the network.
