    摘要: Systems and methods for implementing back-off timing for retries of commands sent from a master device to a slave device over a split-transaction bus. One embodiment includes a buffer having entries for storing each pending command and associated information, including a number of retries of the command and a static pseudorandom timer expiration value. The timer expiration value of each entry is compared to a running counter according to a mask associated with the number of retries of the command corresponding to the entry. When the unmasked bits of the two values match, the command is retried. In one embodiment, the same portion of the buffer entry that is used to store the number of retries and the timer expiration value is alternately used to store a slave-generated tag that is received with an acknowledgment response.

    摘要: An optical recording/reproducing apparatus having excellent resistance against vibration and noise is provided. In recording, coherent light is polarization-modulated with a spatial light modulator to generate signal light and reference light whose polarization directions are crossed at right angles with each other. The signal light permeates a polarizing beam splitter, and is incident to a quarter wavelength plate. The reference light passes through a passing hole, is diffused by a light diffuser and is incident to the quarter wavelength plate. The reference and signal light are converted into circularly polarized light which revolve in directions opposite to each other and condensed by a condenser lens, and then a predetermined area of an optical recording medium is irradiated with the reference and signal light. Thus, the reference and signal light are generated by modulating the incident light from the same light source and are coaxially incident to the polarizing beam splitter.

    摘要: A backlight for color liquid crystal comprises a light-emitting layer having EL phosphor particles dispersed in a matrix of dielectrics, a transparent electrode layer disposed along a main surface on an emitting side of a light-emitting layer, and a reflective insulating layer and a rear electrode layer stacked in turn along a main surface on a non-emitting side of a light-emitting layer. An EL element, under the operational conditions of a voltage of 100 Vrms and a frequency of 400 Hz, emits white light of which brightness is 80 cd/m2 or more, and has characteristics of consumption power of 30 W/m2 or less. By the use of such EL element as a backlight, a color liquid crystal display device that is low in consumption power, excellent in display performance and suitable for a display portion of a portable information terminal can be provided.

    摘要: An optical storage medium of the present invention enables storage of data with high precision at high speed, and rewriting of data at high speed without an erasing process. Optical storage, reading and retrieving methods and optical storage, reading, and retrieving apparatuses using the medium are also provided. The optical storage medium has at least a polarization-sensitive member having the photo-induced birefringence property, such as a member made of polyester polymer having cyanoazobenzene as a side chain. The above apparatuses have spatial light modulator capable of modulating polarization. The modulator provides information of bit of two-dimensional data to each corresponding pixel by application or non-application of a voltage, and modulates the polarization of the beam incident on each pixel. Thereby, a signal beam transmitted through the spatial light modulator having a spatial polarization modulation corresponding to the two-dimensional data is obtained. The signal beam illuminates the optical storage medium, and at the same time, a reference beam illuminates the same region in the medium where the signal beam illuminates. Thus a hologram of the polarization modulation of the signal beam corresponding to the two-dimensional data is stored in the optical storage medium.

    摘要: An air bag wherein a peripheral wall portion on one side opposite to an opening for introducing an inflation gas is put on the side of a peripheral wall portion having the opening and flattened. The peripheral edges around the opening are folded together closer to the opening side at the first stage. Peripheral edges on the end portion side thus folded around the opening are folded at the second stage in such a manner as to set the peripheral edges closer to the opening side whereby to house the air bag in a casing. The region of an air bag cover which is positioned above and substantially closer to a center of the air bag thus folded up is thick-walled so that the region thereof may protrude downward from the periphery of the air bag.
