Abstract: A liquid filter in the form of a filter element or a filter cartridge provides torsion locking relative to a filter head when the housing of such filter is threaded onto a filter head. Many embodiments employ a filter that includes a nipple portion at a top end with the torsion lock detent provided outboard of the nipple portion or integrated into the nipple portion. Many embodiments employ a simplified shoulder transition region at the top end of a torsion locked filter element. Valve actuation and/or filter differentiation is used in some embodiments. Different torsion locking arrangements, deformable thread profiles and other liquid filter features are disclosed.

Abstract: A filtration system having an undulated interlocking housing-endplate interface geometry is described. In the filtration system, a filter element endplate and a filter housing component (e.g., a shell housing, a filter mounting head, etc.) meet at an interface. The filter housing component includes an undulating or repeating pattern that meshes with a matching undulating or repeating pattern on the endplate of the filter element. The undulating or repeating pattern prevents the filter element from freely rotating with respect to the filter housing component of the filtration system.

Abstract: A filtration system interconnection structure having a filter manifold including a sump housing and a first correlated magnet located on or connected to a portion of the manifold, and a filter cartridge including a filter media, first and second end caps sealed to the filter media, and a second, paired correlated magnet located on or connected to the filter cartridge housing body. The first and second correlated magnets are interconnected via magnetic communication upon insertion of the filter cartridge into the sump housing, and upon movement of the filter cartridge into an alignment position, the correlated magnet located on or connected to the manifold is permitted to translate as a result of the magnetic communication. The polarity profiles of the paired correlated magnets are aligned such that a repulsion force is created when the filter cartridge is inserted within the manifold sump housing.

Abstract: What is provided is a water filter assembly comprising a filter cartridge. The filter cartridge comprises a filter head comprising an inlet port; an outlet port; and a filter key integrally formed on the filter head between the inlet port and the outlet port. The filter key consists of exactly one laterally extending finger that is integrally formed on the filter key. The filter key is integral with the filter head as a one piece construction to form a more water-tight seal on the filter cartridge and help prevent the filter key from being separated from the filter cartridge. The finger may have a substantially polygon-shaped cross-section to more efficiently and quickly interlock the filter key with components on a filter receiver. As a result, the filter cartridge may be readily attached to and removed from the filter, while being securely enough engaged to avoid unwanted uncoupling.

Abstract: A filter device with a filter body (1) has a filter bowl (3) and a filter head (5) formed by a removable locking piece of the filter bowl (3). The filter head (5) has a connection point (15) for an unfiltrate flow and a connection point (27) for discharging a filtrate flow. A filter element (7) containing filter material (11) is connected between the connection points (15, 27) and is disposed inside the filter bowl (3) for the filtration of the unfiltrate, specifically for particle contamination. A flow directing device (33) directs the unfiltrate flow to the surface sections of the filter material (11) of the filter element (7) to provide a filtering action when the device is in operation. The flow directing device is a molded component (33) that belongs to the filter head (5) and to which a fluid flow is applied.
