    摘要: A controllable, motor-driven undercarriage which comprises a first frame having non-driven castors and a second frame carrying driving wheels. The second frame can be turned relative to the first frame for changing the direction of the driving wheels and can be locked in any position relative to the first frame. The second frame is a two-armed lever which is pivotable about a central axis and at either end carries a driving wheel which is provided with an independently controllable driving means. The independently controllable driving-wheels are used both for the driving and steering of the undercarriage and for swinging the lever between different locked positions.

    摘要: A tractor of width acceptable for highway travel having a narrow rear body portion between the rear wheels, the width of the body portion being less than the width of each pneumatic tire mounted on the rear wheels. Four or six rear tires which are rotatable on the same axis have the narrow body portion disposed centrally and closely between them, such body portion extending forwardly relatively to the rear wheels with the forward portion of the body, which is substantially wider than the rear portion, mounting an engine near the front wheels. A power transmitting linkage connects the engine with the rear wheels through the rear body portion which, with lateral projections, houses a differential and the necessary shaft bearings. A lifting device extends rearwardly from the rear body portion to behind the rear wheels and then extends laterally where it functions to scrape mud or the like from the treads of the rear tires. A tow bar also extends aft from the rear body portion which is sufficiently wide to scrape mud or the like from the interior sides of the closest rear wheels.

    摘要: An off-the-road type of vehicle which is adapted to travel on the rough terrain has a pair of frames distributed longitudinally of the vehicle, these frames, for example, forming a cab frame which is adapted to accommodate an operator of the vehicle and a load-carrying frame. A pair of ground-engaging structures such as wheels are associated with the frames to support the latter for travelling movement. A suspension connects one of the ground-engaging structures with the frame associated therewith, and this suspension includes an elastically yieldable structure to provide the possibility of elastic yielding movement in this suspension. A joint structure interconnects the pair of frames so that they are turnable one with respect to the other at least about an axis which extends longitudinally of the vehicle in the direction of travel thereof and which is substantially horizontal when the vehicle is on substantially horizontal ground. A second elastically yieldable structure is operatively connected with this joint structure to provide for elastic yielding resistance to turning of the frames one with respect to the other about the axis of the joint structure.

    摘要: A wheeled vehicle of good stability and high manoeuvreability is disclosed. The vehicle is hydraulically driven and skid-steerable by rotation upon one only, transverse pair of wheels, herein called the pivot wheels, all other wheels being allowed to slide laterally into each new position; and is provided with automatic loading means operative upon the pivot wheels to ensure that ground pressure at these two wheels is always greater, under all drive conditions, than at any other of the wheels. The wheels are articulated to the vehicle frame to absorb irregularities in terrain and provision is also made for adjusting the fore and aft angle of the frame with respect to the wheels for hill climbing or descending.

    摘要: The haulage vehicle has a frame member with separate front and rear sections that are connected to each other universal means and are free to articulate in a plurality of planes. The frame rear section has a transversely mounted rear axle adjacent the rear portion on which a pair of propelling wheels are mounted and a transversely mounted intermediate axle adjacent the front portion of the frame rear section on which a pair of intermediate propelling wheels are mounted. The frame front section has a transversely mounted front axle on which a pair of front propelling wheels are mounted. Separate propelling motors are mounted adjacent each of the propelling wheels and are drivingly connencted to the adjacent propelling wheel. All of the propelling wheels are steerable and the drive motors are movable therewith. A body member is supported on the frame rear section and a boom member is supported on the frame front section. The boom member is connected to the body member by a plurality of longitudinally extending flexible plates, so that the boom and body members are free to articulate in a plurality of planes. Endless conveying means are positioned in the longitudinal haulage compartment formed by the body and boom members. With this arrangement, all of the propelling wheels on the haulage vehicle remain in contact with the ground as the haulage vehicle moves over uneven terrain and the haulage vehicle follows the contour of the uneven terrain.

    摘要: A six wheel material handling vehicle comprises an engine and a hydrostatic drive which functions both to propel the vehicle and to manipulate the vehicle by means of skid steering. The engine is mounted at one end of a frame, and apparatus is provided for receiving and vertically manipulating a load at the opposite end of the frame. The wheels are arranged in three pairs, with the center pair extending below a plane extending tangent to the bottoms of the wheels at the ends of the vehicle. During operation over adverse terrain, the vehicle is supported on all six wheels. During operation on a hard, smooth surface, the vehicle is supported either on the forward and center pairs of wheels or on the center and rearward pairs of wheels, depending on weight distribution.

    摘要: An amphibious all-terrain vehicle which is capable of translating over and through essentially all forms of terrain and substantially any environment. The vehicle has a prime mover operatively associated with at least two hydrostatic transmissions which are mounted in a manner to isolate them from forces exerted on the vehicle. The transmissions supply the power generated by the prime mover through a chain drive system, which multiplies the torque produced by the engine, to a plurality of traction members mounted on both sides of the vehicle. A lubricant is contained in a portion of the vehicle chassis structure to lubricate the chain drive system as it passes therethrough. An automatic chain tensioning device is positioned adjacent each chain of the chain drive system to prevent the chains from operatively disengaging from their mating components due to excessive chain slack during normal straight ahead operation or in the event of a sudden change in the direction of the driving forces being applied to the chain drive system by the transmissions. The vehicle operator steers, controls the forward and reverse directions, and speed of the vehicle by manipulating a single vehicle operators control member.

    摘要: A three-axle vehicle is provided in two parts, two axles under the forward part and one under the rear part, and the two parts are articulated so as to have pitch and roll capabilities of the parts relative to each other. These capabilities are negatived by two truss structures securable between the parts, one on each side of the roll axis and each truss comprising a triangle of which one side is the structure of one of the two parts. A tension member for each ground-engaging member of the intermediate axle keeps the ground-engaging members off the ground when the two parts are rigidized by the trusses, so that a tire or wheel may be taken from the intermediate axle to replace a damaged tire or wheel on either of the front or rear axles. Rigidized, the vehicle functions as a four-wheel, two-axle type.
