The inlet valve assembly comprises an inlet valve member moveable between open and closed positions to control the fuel flow from a source of low-pressure fuel to a pumping chamber of the fuel pump, a first biasing spring arranged to apply a first force to the valve member in an opening direction, a second biasing spring arranged to apply a second force to the valve member in a closing direction, and an actuator arrangement operable to remove the first force from the valve member, thereby to allow the valve member to move into its closed position.

    摘要: In usual hydraulic pumps, a separate assembly opening is provided for every valve of the hydraulic pump. This design causes sealing problems. It is proposed, that the fluid inlet valve and the fluid outlet valve can be assembled through a common assembly access port. Further, the fluid inlet valve and the fluid outlet valve can be arranged around a common cavity, or even within the same cavity, via the common assembly access port in the fluid working machine's body.

The method includes determining an expected natural opening time when the seal element is lifted off the seal seat based on a pressure difference in front and behind the valve, impressing a specified current on the actuator at a point in time within a specified interval prior to the natural opening time, the seal element sitting against the seal seat at the point in time such that the pin contacts the seal element and the actuator force matches the spring force, which is reduced by a specified value.

    摘要: An inlet valve arrangement for a pump head of a fuel pump for use in a common rail fuel injection system comprises an inlet valve member moveable between open and closed positions to control the flow from a source of low-pressure fuel to a pumping chamber of the fuel pump. The inlet valve member is arranged to open in response to the pressure difference between the fluid pressure of fuel on an inlet side of the inlet valve member and the fluid pressure in the pumping chamber exceeding a threshold value. The inlet valve arrangement comprises means for selectively applying a closing force on the inlet valve member to bias it toward the closed position, such that, in use, the application of the closing force by said means acts to increase the threshold value of the pressure difference at which the inlet valve member opens.

    摘要: An electronically actuatable valve assembly having a primary face seating valve, including a primary valve member, and a secondary valve, including a secondary valve member. The secondary valve opens before the primary valve to equilibrate pressure across the primary valve member and thereby facilitate opening of the primary valve member. The secondary valve is coupled to an armature which moves from a first position to a second position, in use, attracted by an electromagnet. The coupling between the armature and the secondary valve is configured to enable the armature to begin to move from the first position without movement of the secondary valve. The armature has therefore moved from the first position, closer to the electromagnet, when the secondary valve is opened by way of the forces exerted through the coupling between the armature and the secondary valve member, and so a greater force can be exerted to open the secondary valve than would be the case if the secondary valve member was fixedly coupled to the armature.
