A travelling-wave tube mounting and focusing unit comprises an input and output rectangular waveguide 9, 10, Fig. 1, respectively, each apertured through their wide walls to surround respectively the input and output ends of tube 1, a focusing solenoid 15 extending between the waveguides and further solenoids 14, 16 at each end beyond the waveguides, and, at least in conjunction with the output waveguide, a pair of sheets 18, 19, Figs. 2, 3, of low reluctance magnetic material apertured to surround the tube, arranged to abut against the outside of the opposite wide waveguide walls 10 and extending beyond the width of the walls; and a pair of similarly-oriented permanent magnets 20 extending between and contacting the pair of said sheets and lying one on each narrow wall of the waveguide. The length of each magnet may be 1¢ times the wide dimension of the waveguide. The sheets 18, 19 are slotted partially at 24 to reduce transverse fields. The permanent magnets maintain a uniform field along the tube.

摘要: A grid component for use with a vacuum electron device (VED), such as an inductive output tube (IOT), includes a skirt that adds structural support and aids in alignment. The grid component has a dome in which a grid pattern is formed and includes an annular, concentric flange surrounding the dome. The skirt is formed concentrically around the flange. Alignment orifices may be provided in the flange for passage of alignment pins in the assembled product. The grid, flange, and skirt are a unitary component and are formed by a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) or similar process, in which a mandrel is used to provide a deposition surface. The mandrel is placed in a furnace, and a high-temperature CVD process is used to break down a hydrocarbon gas to thereby deposit a pyrolytic graphite coating onto the mandrel. The mandrel may include a skirt template to provide the characteristic skirt.

摘要: A CT scanner which collects X-ray projection data of a subject and which generates an image in the subject from the projection data, the CT scanner includes tubes which emit X-rays and which include grids to switch emission and stoppage of the X-rays, a unit which generates a high voltage to be supplied to the tubes, a cable which sends the high voltage to each of the tubes, circuits which change potentials of the grids arranged in the tubes, respectively, a control unit which controls the circuits to switch the emission and the stoppage of the X-rays in a pulse manner while the tubes rotate around the subject, detectors arranged to face the tubes, respectively, and a unit which validates an output signal from the detector facing the tube emitting the X-rays and which invalidates an output signal from the detector facing the tube stopping the emission of the X-rays.
