摘要： A connector assembly for printed circuit boards comprises a first and a second connector part. The first connector part has a first housing of insulating material and having a bottom and two opposite side walls and with male contact elements mounted in the bottom of the housing and arranged in rows and columns and having portions projecting from the bottom of the housing adapted to be inserted into holes of the corresponding printed circuit board. The second connector part has a second housing of insulating material adapted to be inserted into the first housing with an insertion side and with female contact elements mounted in the housing and arranged in a corresponding manner in rows and columns and having portions projecting from a lower side of the housing, which projecting portions can be inserted into holes of the corresponding printed circuit board. The second connector part comprises at least one ground contact plate projecting out of said housing at the insertion side along a distance substantially corresponding with the thickness of the bottom of the first housing. At least one slot is provided in the bottom of the first housing for receiving the ground contact plates. The first housing comprises shielding plates provided on the side walls and having contact means for connection with a corresponding conductor of the corresponding printed circuit board and wherein ground contact means each project in a slot in the bottom of the housing for contacting a ground contact plate of the second housing.

摘要： A modular jack assembly for mounting to a printed circuit board, is shown comprising a plurality of modular jacks assembled to a common integral housing and disposed in back-to-back mirror image symmetry. Shielding, is provided around the connector assembly and shielding between the two rows is also provided for suppressing cross-talk therebetween. The design is compact, providing for a large number of ports without increasing the length of the connector assembly, whilst also providing good access to the resilient locking latches of complementary modular plugs received by the jacks.

摘要： A socket and a method for making a socket for securing an integrated circuit package to a supporting structure. The integrated circuit package has a plurality of leads positioned in a geometric pattern and each lead has a predetermined impedance. The socket comprises a substrate or body having a first and second surface opposed to each other and formed of an insulative material. The socket further comprises a plurality signal path members extending from at least the first surface to the second surface. Each signal path member includes a first and second end. One end of each signal path member includes a means positioned to secure a lead of an integrated circuit package and the other end is adapted to be coupled to a conductor on a printed circuit board. A metal pattern or ground plane mesh is defined on at least a surface of the substrate, and coated through holes are defined in the substrate at a predetermined distance such that the impedance of at least one signal path is controlled to match the anticipated impedance of the lead. Further, radio-frequency interference with at least one signal path is suppressed.

摘要： An interconnection plate apparatus provides high frequency signal paths for communication among multiple pc boards and/or high frequency system components. The apparatus includes an interconnection plate which is a conductor having cross-sectional channels at which transmission line structures are formed. The transmission line structure includes a through-plate conductor concentrically surrounded by a through-plate insulator concentrically surrounded by the channel walls. An RF ground ring is positioned between the interconnection plate and a pc board at the transmission line structure. The interconnection plate provides a common ground reference and a common ground path for each board mounted to the interconnection plate. The ground ring structures assure a stable ground connection between the interconnection plate and the pc board ground planes. Different transmission line structures implement different signal transformation functions. The transmission line structure may simply pass the signal. In one embodiment, however, the transmission line structure serves as a low-pass filter.

摘要： A backplane signal connector assembly includes a header connector adapted for mounting on a backplane and a receptacle connector adapted for mounting on a daughter printed circuit board. Each connector includes a conductive housing having a cavity for receiving at least two signal terminals and at least one ground terminal. The signal terminal has an insert molded insulating mounting body about a portion thereof to provide a module for mounting in the cavity to insulate the terminal from the conductive housing. The ground terminal is in direct conductive engagement with the housing. The terminals are stamped and formed metal components. At least one ground clip is mounted on each conductive housing in direct conductive engagement therewith and is adapted for commoning to a ground on the respective backplane and daughter printed circuit board, whereby the housing establishes a primary ground reference for the connector.

摘要： A dual readout SIMM socket includes a dielectric housing having a module receiving slot, terminal slots transverse and open to the module receiving slot, and terminals positioned in the terminal slots. An electrically conductive ground plane extends along a length of the housing. The ground plane has leads for establishing electrical contact with circuits on a substrate. A plurality of signal and ground terminals are arranged in a selected sequence in the terminal slots. Each of the signal and ground terminals has a trace engaging contact point extending into the module receiving slot for establishing electrical contact with respective signal and ground traces on a SIMM panel received therein. Each of the ground terminals has a contact member for establishing electrical contact with the ground plane. Each of the signal terminals has a lead for establishing electrical contact with other circuits on the substrate.

摘要： A completely shielded metallic connector block for use in multiple circuit modules of an electronic device. Electrical communication between the circuit boards is effected by an array of metallic pins which run through the blocks. The metal of the blocks can be held at ground or at a constant potential to increase the shielding between pins as well as maintaining voltage and ground planes at constant levels throughout the modules. The blocks are insulated from the pins and circuit boards by a non-conductive coating. In the preferred embodiment, the metal of the blocks is aluminum and the coating is a hardcoat anodizing.
