摘要: A high efficiency lighting system maintains normal lighting conditions by lighting fixtures requiring DC electrical power. A power control device receives AC electrical power from a public utility converts AC power to DC power and delivers low voltage DC electrical power to lighting fixtures. A standby battery is provided to maintain power during power outages. Optionally, a photovoltaic DC electrical power source may be connected to the power control device, to provide alternate DC electrical power. In a further embodiment, a gas driven cogenerator unit may supply DC electrical power.

摘要: A DC power system receives AC electrical power and DC electrical power from separate first and second sources simultaneously. The DC power system delivers DC electrical power to an output for use by a load requiring DC power. The DC power system includes a converter to convert AC electrical power to DC electrical power and a power sharing control device to control and distribute the DC electrical power to an output. The first source of DC electrical power includes a storage battery, which provides standby DC electrical power to the DC power system. It also includes a power sharing device, which maintains the storage battery fully charged for use at peak loads, when the DC output electrical power is insufficient to meet the DC load. The second source of DC electrical power is a cogenerator such as a fuel cell, a thermo photovoltaic generator or an internal combustion engine and an alternator for generating and delivering DC electrical power to the power sharing device, while producing and delivering waste heat for use of an external load requiring this heat.

摘要: An electric power distribution system is shown where even if supply of electric power is interrupted, other normal electric part systems can be operated. A number of electric power distribution portions are supplied with electric power through at least two systems of electric power lines. The amounts of electric currents in the two systems of the trunk lines respectively are detected and monitored by a sensor and each current detection portion. Moreover, a controller controls a switch corresponding to a sensor which has detected an abnormal value among output values from a number of current detection portions to make non-conductive the trunk line from which the abnormal value has been detected. If a fault takes place in, for example, the trunk line between the electric power distribution portions, the two ends of the trunk line respectively are disconnected by the switch. Moreover, electric power is supplied from another electric power distribution portion through the residual electric power line of the two systems of the electric power lines.

摘要: Current converters subjected to an upper harmonic voltage are coupled to each end of a superconductive cable via corresponding voltage dividers. Each voltage divider comprises a smoothing inductor, having a low resistance to direct current, coupled to the corresponding converter and a capacitor and an inductor, having a high resistance to direct current, connected to a point at ground potential. The capacitors comprise superconductive material of the cable, covered by electrically insulating material which in turn is covered by inductive material.

摘要: A jump starting apparatus for boosting or charging a depleted or discharged battery having a positive polarity battery terminal and a negative polarity battery terminal includes a rechargeable battery, an output port, a battery cable assembly, and a safety control system or circuit. The battery cable assembly includes a positive battery cable having a positive polarity battery terminal connector for connecting the jump starting apparatus to the positive polarity battery terminal of the depleted or discharged battery, a negative battery cable having a negative polarity battery terminal connector for connecting the jump starting apparatus to the negative polarity battery terminal of the depleted or discharged battery, and a plug connector coupled to the positive battery cable and the negative battery cable, the plug connector configured to plug into the output port, wherein the output port and the plug connector are dimensioned so that the plug connector will fit into the output port only in one specific orientation. The safety control system is configured for detecting when the jump starting apparatus is properly connected to the depleted or discharged battery and then switching on power from the rechargeable battery to the depleted or discharged battery only when the jump starting apparatus is properly connected to the depleted or discharged battery.
