    摘要: A method and apparatus for performing maintenance on sewer pipes using a thermal sensor. The method and apparatus may be applied to the reinstatement of lateral openings after a liner has been installed in a main pipe. The thermal sensor detects the location of the lateral openings by sensing the thermal conditions of the liner. The thermal condition of the portions of the liner that cover the lateral openings is different from the thermal condition of the rest of the liner. The apparatus and method is also applicable to detecting groundwater leaks in the main pipe, and is also applicable to inspecting exothermic chemical reactions in the main pipe, such as exothermic grout or epoxy used to seal the liner in the main pipe. The thermal sensor may be integrated into a camera assembly that includes a visual camera at one end and the thermal sensor at the other end. The visual camera is useful in those portions of the main pipe that are full of water.

    摘要: A method for retrieving predetermined locations in sewer and pipeline systems after application or deposition of a layer of material. A carrier vehicle having a microwave sensor emits microwave signals and receives backscattered microwave signals. A first run is conducted inside the sewer or pipeline system before application or deposition of the layer of material. A first temporal signal profile of the backscattered microwave signals is recorded and the sought locations are marked in the first signal profile. After the application or deposition of the layer of material, a second run is conducted. A second temporal signal profile of the backscattered signals is recorded. The current position of the vehicle in the sewer or pipeline system relative to the sought locations is determined by comparison with the first signal profile.

    摘要: A composite code assigned to each manhole of a sewer system in a geographical region is associated with an x-y location of the manhole on a digitized geographical map of the region containing a representation of the sewer system including manholes plotted thereon. The composite code is stored in a memory of a computer. Other information regarding each of the manholes is entered into corresponding records stored in the memory of the computer. The composite code is utilized as a link between the record for each manhole and the x-y location of each manhole on the digitized map. Utilizing a computer mouse, an x-y location associated with a location of a manhole on a display of the digitized map containing the sewer system is selected. In response to the selection, the record associated with the selected manhole is retrieved from the computer's memory utilizing the composite code. The retrieved record is displayed on the display.

    摘要: An underwater storage system collects waste, measures the collection and stores the waste in underwater storage tanks from whence the material is pumped when inlet measurement indicates the necessity. Automatic systems are provided for the storage of sewage waste during peak periods and in large flexible walled tanks having flat rectangular bottoms with horizontal oriented inlet and outlet means. When the peak systems are passed, the present invention provides automatic means to reintroduce the stored sewage into the sewage treatment system. The automatic waste, collection, storage and emptying systems and the flexible containers used in those systems have particularly useful application to sewage systems.
