Abstract:
A protective cover for an exhaust fan motor or the like actuable to withdraw the same by normally restrained positive pressure from the motor upon the monitoring of hot fumes representing a fire, thereby to expose the motor to a cooling environment little different from or substantially the same as that of its normal operation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for producing a protein-rich lupin flour, said process comprising the successive steps of a) washing a lupin flour by mixing it with an acidic aqueous liquid, and adjusting the pH of the mixture to a pH ranging from 3.5 to 5.3, to obtain a aqueous-washed lupin flour; and b) washing said aqueous-washed lupin flour by mixing it with an alcohol at least one time, to obtain an alcohol-washed lupin flour. The invention further to a protein-rich lupin flour, wherein said protein-rich lupin flour comprises at least 45% DM w/w of proteins and at least 20% DM w/w of total fibres and may have a white or off white colour determined in the colour space CIELAB (1976) by a b* value of less than 18, preferably less than 17.4, preferably less than 15.0 and more preferably less than 12.0.
Abstract:
A process for producing a protein concentrate from oilseed from a plant of a family selected from the group consisting of Brassicaceae, Cannabaceae, Pedaliaceae, Rosaceae, and Fabaceae, preferably Brassicaceae. The method comprises the successive steps of:
a) providing a presscake from at least partially dehulled oilseed; b) washing said presscake by mixing it with a first hydrous-alcohol solvent to obtain a washed presscake, and eventually separating said washed presscake from said first hydrous-alcohol solvent, to obtain a washed, an eventually separated, presscake, wherein said first hydrous-alcohol solvent has an alcohol concentration ranging from 60 to 75% w/w; and c) washing said washed, and eventually separated presscake by mixing it with a last hydrous-alcohol solvent to obtain a protein-containing solid and separating said protein-containing solid from said last hydrous-alcohol solvent to obtain a protein concentrate, wherein the alcohol concentration of the final hydrous-alcohol solvent is about the concentration of the azeotrope.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for producing a sunflower protein isolate, said process comprising the following steps: (a) providing a sunflower seed press cake, preferably a sunflower seed cold press cake; (b) mixing said sunflower seed press cake with an aqueous NaCI solution at a pH ranging from 3 to 4.5, in order to solubilize proteins present in said sunflower seed press cake and to thus obtain a solubilised protein solution, wherein said aqueous NaCI solution has a NaCI concentration ranging from 0.2 to 0.6 mol·L−1; (c) separating said solubilised protein solution from solids therein; (d) subjecting said solubilised protein solution obtained in step c) to one or several membrane filtration(s) to obtain a protein isolate, and optionally drying said protein isolate to obtain a dry sunflower protein isolate. The invention also relates to a sunflower protein isolate and its use and product which incorporate.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a process for the treatment of a feed comprising biomass, said process comprising at least the following steps: a) a step for drying said feed at a temperature in the range 20° C. to 180° C. for a period in the range 5 to 180 minutes, b) a step for torrefaction of the dried feed obtained from step a) in order to produce at least one solid torrefied biomass effluent, and c) a step for co-grinding the solid torrefied biomass effluent obtained from step b) in the presence of a second biomass feed in order to obtain a powder.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a lipid composition comprising fatty acids mainly in the form of triacylglycerols, in which composition at least 50% of the fatty acids are 14-methyl pentadecanoic acids, and at least 8% of the fatty acids are 12-methyl tetradecanoic acids, the percentages being expressed by weight with respect to the total fatty acids of the composition.
Abstract:
A rehabilitation footwear device for assisting in controlling weight application to an injured lower appendage includes a shoe that is configured to position around and reversibly couple to a foot of a user. A control module that comprises a power module and a microprocessor is coupled to the shoe. The microprocessor is operationally coupled to the power module. A plurality of sensors is coupled to and positioned in a sole of the shoe. The sensors are operationally coupled to the microprocessor. The sensors are configured to measure pressure applied to the sole from the foot that is positioned in the shoe and to relay a pressure measurement to the microprocessor. A speaker is coupled to the shoe. The speaker is operationally coupled to the microprocessor. The microprocessor is positioned to compel the speaker to emit an audio alert should the pressure measurement exceed a threshold limit.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a material comprising: a first crosslinked polymer forming a network, and a second linear polymer comprising n monomers, each of the monomers having the following formula I: (I), where m varies from 0 to 4, R is selected from hydrogen, an ethyl group and an alkyl group, and n is a non-zero natural integer, said material being such that it forms a semi-interpenetrating network wherein the second linear polymer is entangled in the network of the first polymer.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of glycerol, or a C3-C5 sugar, as the main carbon source during the culturing of actinomyces bacteria for the production of lipids by said bacteria.
