Abstract: A system and method for presenting laboratory data to a user are presented. The system comprises a perception component for continuously gathering in-situ context data regarding a laboratory and the user, a user modeling component for receiving the in-situ context data from the perception component to create a user specific model for each user, a laboratory device awareness component for monitoring the status, performance, alarms, and/or maintenance of the laboratory devices, a notification component for receiving the in-situ context data from the perception component and the laboratory device status data from the laboratory device awareness component and for processing and determining which data from the in-situ context data and the laboratory device status data are to be presented to the user, and a presentation component for presenting the processed data from the notification component. The presented data comprises both public and private notification of the data to the user.

Abstract: A drive system for driving a belt is presented. The system comprises a frame, a driving shaft connected to a motor, a controller, a driven shaft, two pulleys connected to the driven and driving shafts, and a belt. The frame supports the driving and driven shafts to mount the belt on the pulleys. A signal element is mounted on and drives with the belt. At least two detection elements are mounted on the frame so that when the signal element passes the detection elements, a signal is generated as the belt moves. The detector elements are connected to a controller which controls the motor so that when the system starts, the belt moves until the signal element generates a signal in a first detector element to fix a zero point of the belt movement. The signal of the second detector element checks the zero point during normal drive operation.

Abstract: An automatic analyzer cartridge, spinnable about a rotational axis, has fluid and aliquoting chambers, a metering chamber connected to a vent that is nearer to the rotational axis than the metering chamber, first and second ducts connecting the fluid and aliquoting chambers, and the metering and aliquoting chambers, respectively. Metering chamber side walls taper away from a central region, wherein capillary action next to the walls is greater than in the central region. Fluid flows to the metering chamber using capillary action via the second duct that has an entrance and exit in the aliquoting and metering chambers, respectively; the exit being closer to the rotational axis than the entrance. A downstream fluidic element connects to the metering chamber via a valve. A fluidic structure receives and processes a biological sample into the processed biological sample and has a measurement structure that enables measurement of the processed biological sample.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a monoclonal antibody, or fragment thereof, which binds to CSF-1R (Colony stimulating factor 1 receptor), in particular to human CSF-1R. The present invention further relates to the in vitro use of the monoclonal antibody, or fragment thereof, of the present invention for the detection of CSF-1R in a sample. Further encompassed by the present invention is a complex comprising the monoclonal antibody, or fragment thereof, of the present invention and CSF-1R such as the human CSF-1R polypeptide.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a laboratory system to monitor reference points of laboratory devices. The laboratory system comprises a first laboratory device comprising a first reference point, a second laboratory device comprising a second reference point, and a coupling element. The coupling element couples the first reference point and the second reference point. The coupling element comprises a detectable part adapted to be moved between a starting position and at least one detection position when the relative position of the first reference point and the second reference point to each other changes. The laboratory system further comprises a sensor configured to detect the detectable part of the coupling element in the at least one detection position. In addition, a method of operating the laboratory system as described is disclosed.

Abstract: The present report relates to hybridizing single-stranded (ss-) oligonucleotides which entirely consist of locked nucleic acid (LNA) monomers. The present document shows hybridization experiments with pairs of entirely complementary ss-oligonucleotides which fail to form a duplex within a given time interval. The present report provides methods to identify such incompatible oligonucleotide pairs. In another aspect, the present report provides pairs of complementary ss-oligonucleotides which are capable of rapid duplex formation. The present report also provides methods to identify and select compatible oligonucleotide pairs. In yet another aspect the present report provides use of compatible oligonucleotide pairs as binding partners in binding assays, e.g. receptor-based assays.

Abstract: A liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) apparatus including an ionization source coupled to a mass spectrometer and a liquid chromatographic (LC) system coupled to the ionization source. The LC system comprises multiple fluidic streams alternately connectable to the ionization source, thereby assigning a detection time window to each fluidic stream from the multiple fluidic streams when connected to the ionization source. The LC-MS apparatus further comprises a controller configured to carry out steps of monitoring an ionization current of the ionization source for the multiple fluidic streams and identifying differences in flow conditions between the multiple fluidic streams based on the monitored ionization current. The controller is further configured to carry out adjusting detection conditions of one or more of the multiple fluidic streams responsive to the identified differences, thereby enabling eluates of interest from each fluidic stream to be detected by the mass spectrometer in the respective detection time window.
