Abstract:
Methods, logic, apparatus and computer program product write data, comprising less than a full Data Set, to magnetic tape. Data is received from a host, a do-not-interleave command is issued and C1 and C2 ECC are computed. Codeword Quad (CQ) sets are then formed. At least one CQ set of the Data Set is written to a magnetic tape in a non-interleaved manner and a Data Set Information Table (DSIT) is written to the magnetic tape immediately following the at least one written CQ set. An address transformation may be used to cancel interleaving. Writing a CQ set may include writing a plurality of contiguous instances of the CQ set to the magnetic tape to maintain the effectiveness of ECC capability.
Abstract:
A solid-state image sensor having a configuration which reduces increases in light-collection loss and light mixing due to an increase in the angle of light entering into a waveguide path during oblique incidence and which is effective for sensitivity improvement includes: an Si substrate; unit-pixels arranged on the Si substrate; a wiring layer formed on the unit-pixels; optical waveguide regions each formed on a photoelectric conversion region included in a corresponding one of the unit-pixels, and penetrating the wiring layer; and light-collecting elements each formed above a corresponding one of the optical waveguide regions, wherein each of the light-collecting elements is a gradient index microlens having an effective refractive index distribution.
Abstract:
Finish of a composite image generated from an image and characters can be confirmed by enlarging the characters alone and without enlarging a copyrighted image such as a cartoon character. In order to generate the composite image, the characters are input from a user terminal according to a template. In a printing service apparatus, image data of the composite image are generated and sent to the user terminal. By an instruction from the user terminal, enlargement data are generated for enlarging the characters alone and sent to the user terminal.
Abstract:
An unencoded m-bit data input sequence is divided into a block of n bits and a block of m-n bits. The block of n bits is divided into a first set of n+1 encoded bits, wherein at least one of P1 subblocks of the first set satisfies a G, M and I constraints. The first set of n+1 encoded bits is mapped into a second set of n+1 encoded bits wherein at least one of P2 subblocks of the second set gives rise to at least Q1 transitions after 1/(1+D2) precoding. A second set of n+1 encoded bits is divided into P3 encoded subblocks and the P3 encoded subblocks are interleaved among (m−n)/s unencoded symbols so as to form a (m+1)-bit output sequence codeword which is then stored on a data storage medium.
Abstract:
A first semiconductor chip includes a fixed electrode formed on a first semiconductor substrate and a plurality of first metal spacers formed on a first interlayer dielectric. A second semiconductor chip includes a vibrating electrode formed on a second semiconductor substrate and a plurality of second metal spacers formed on a second interlayer dielectric. The first and second semiconductor chips are metallically bonded to each other using the first and second metal spacers. An air gap is formed in a region of the condenser microphone located between the first semiconductor chip and the second semiconductor chip except bonded regions of the first and second metal spacers.

Abstract:
An on-screen display device that can effectively utilize a video RAM area. This on-screen display device includes a video RAM that holds character data of desired characters that are to be displayed; a display character setting unit for locating the number of bits as many as the remainder that is obtained by dividing character data corresponding to one character by the number of bits that can be read at one-time access from the video RAM, collectively by one line in the video RAM; buffers for storing a part of character data of the respective characters; a character generator ROM for outputting font data corresponding to the character codes; and a display control unit for reading character data from the video RAM via the buffers at the display of the characters, and reading the font data that are created by the character generator ROM, thereby outputting an on-screen output signal.

Abstract:
Original images, large images, medium images and thumbnail images are registered with a server system. An original-image file is transmitted from a client computer to the server system. The server system converts the format of the original-image file to generate a large-image file, generates a medium-image file, in which the quantity of data is less than that of the large-image file, from the large-image file, and generates a thumbnail-image file, in which the quantity of data is less than that of the medium-image file, from the medium-image file. The original-image file, large-image file, medium-image file and thumbnail-image file are placed on one folder and stored in an image file unit. After the folder containing the original-image file, etc., has been stored in the image file unit, the user of a client computer having access privileges is capable of accessing files such as the large-image file.
Abstract:
A method of finishing an edge of a sheet glass is disclosed. The method includes a first grinding step for grinding an edge of a sheet glass so as to provide the edge with an outwardly convex curved shape, and a finishing step for finishing a bordering portion which has been formed by the first grinding step between the curved edge and each flat side face of the sheet glass, so as to provide this bordering portion with a greater smoothness than smoothness provided by the first grinding step. A heat-tempered sheet glass using the method and a fire-resistant construction material using this heat-tempered sheet glass are also disclosed.
