摘要: An improved multi-element apparatus for detecting the presence of at least one chemical, biological or physical component in a monitored area comprising an array or single set of the following elements: a capacitive transducer having at least one cantilever spring element secured thereto, the cantilever element having an area thereof coated with a chemical having an affinity for the component to be detected; a pick-up plate positioned adjacent to the cantilever element at a distance such that a capacitance between the cantilever element and the pick-up plate changes as the distance between the cantilever element and the pick-up plate varies, the change in capacitance being a measurable variation; a detection means for measuring the measurable variation in the capacitance between the cantilever element and the pick-up plate that forms a measurement channel signal; and at least one feedback cantilever spring element positioned apart from the coated cantilever element, the cantilever element substantially unaffected by the component being monitored and providing a reference channel signal to the detection means that achieves a common mode cancellation between the measurement channel signal and reference channel signal.

摘要: There is described a novel thermographic recording film, and more specifically, a novel image-forming system incorporated therein comprising at least one layer and including and a Lewis acid material, a di- or triarylmethane thiolactone dye precursor, an acidic organic material, a binder and a thermal stabilizer. Thermographic recording films comprising the novel image-forming system of the present invention exhibit excellent thermal stability, and desirable minimum optical densities, indicative of substantially less premature image development at elevated environmental temperatures. Embodiments of the invention wherein the thermographic recording films further include a light insensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, a binder and, preferably, a toning agent, show substantially enhanced image density.

摘要: There is disclosed a form liner having a thickness no greater than 0.5 inch and having planar dimensions of approximately 2 feet by 4 feet, with one of its planar surfaces having a molded negative impression of a desirable surface relief pattern for a concrete wall. The form liner is manufactured by processing pre-formed sheets or panels of expanded plastic foam, typically expanded polystyrene foam. These stock panels are obtained in approximately 3/8 inch thickness and a positive pattern of the desired relief is pressed into the panel under sufficient heat, about 200 degrees F. and pressure, about 2500 psi, to mold one of the smooth surfaces of the panel into a negative impression of the desired surface relief pattern. The molding can be accomplished in a standard compression equipment with cycle times of approximately ten seconds. This permits the inexpensive and facile manufacture of these panels at sites removed from the polystyrene foam expander plant.

摘要: A modular occupant restraint system includes a container for the folded cushion and a cover for the container. The container has lines of perforations which subdivide the walls thereof into two sets of flaps. One set of flaps permits deployment of the folded cushion along alternate paths laterally of the system and generally parallel to the driver's torso. The other set of flaps permits deployment of the cushion along the intended path toward the driver's torso. The cover has weakened lines which subdivide the cover into flaps generally coextensive with those of the container. The folded cushion has fan folded chordal portions which are located opposite the first set of flaps of the container to forcibly open such flaps.
