摘要: A pickup and a drive, in a small size, having a spherical aberration correction device capable of correcting various spherical aberration, and coma aberration and/or astigmatism with a low power consumption. A variable-focus lens actuator can correct spherical aberration such that a transparent deformation film warps into a parabolic shape when a magnetic field is applied thereto, thereby changing the light intensity distribution of transmitted light. Further, the variable-focus lens actuator can correct coma aberration and/or astigmatism by arbitrarily tilting the transparent film to change the proceeding direction of the transmitted light.

摘要: There are provided a sputtering target and a process for producing a sputtering target. The sputtering target includes a first layer located on its side to be sputter treated and a second layer located on its side not to be sputter treated. The first and second layers are bonded to each other through a bonding interface between the first layer and the second layer. The sputtering target satisfying the following requirements X and Y: requirement X: A/B≦1.5 and requirement Y: A/C≦1.5, wherein A represents an oxygen peak value for the bonding interface; B represents an oxygen peak value for the first layer; and C represents an oxygen peak value for the second layer. The sputtering target is advantageous in that a spent sputtering target can be recycled to utilize resources and can form a thin film while effectively preventing the occurrence of abnormal discharge and splash.

摘要: In order that it is realized to put 16× speed DVD-RAM in practice, a recording method coping with CAV (constant angular velocity) and a method for improving S/N ratio are provided and an optical disk device using them is provided. In order that a cutoff phenomenon of pulse in a laser driving circuit may not occur, the shortest pulse width is set at 1 Tw or more where Tw indicates a window width, and a recording pulse in which a 4T mark is recorded with a mono pulse where T indicates a detection window width and the parameter setting range are prescribed. Simultaneously, a reproduction power for 6× speed or more is set at 1.5-2.0 mW, different from a conventional value, and a setup sequence with which deterioration of data in reproducing does not occur is provided. Thereby it becomes possible to put 16× speed DVD-RAM in practice.
