Abstract:
A second storage system (SS2) comprises a plurality of tapes, a first storage device capable of performing random access at a rate higher than the tapes, and a virtual storage device emulating the first storage device. A first storage system (SS1) comprises a second storage device and a third storage device that has the virtual storage device mapped therewith. The SS2 reserves a storage space on the first storage device and reads data from the tape corresponding to the virtual storage device into the storage space. The SS1 performs copying between the second storage device and third storage device and, in this process, sends a command for access generated in the third storage device to the virtual storage device. When receiving the Access Command corresponding to the virtual storage device, the SS2 accesses the storage space.
Abstract:
A mobile communication terminal of a portable telephone is housed in a casing having a first surface. A receiver section of the portable telephone capable of generating a voice is arranged on the first surface. A two-wavelength loop antenna arranged on a plane substantially parallel to the first plane and formed of a looped line having a right section and a left section that are in symmetry with respect to an imaginary vertical symmetric line is housed in the casing. A power supply point for supplying an electric power to the loop antenna is arranged in the vicinity of the intersection between the symmetric line and the looped line.
Abstract:
There is provided a radio apparatus usable in a frequency band of use comprising a feeder circuit, a first antenna element and a second antenna element. The first antenna element having a first end connected to the feeder circuit and a grounded second end includes a forward path and a backward path short-circuiting to each other at a shorting bridge, and is a half wavelength long of a first frequency in the band of use. The distance between the first end and the second end is no greater than one-tenth wavelength of the first frequency. The second antenna element begins with the first end, shares a part of the forward path with the first antenna element, diverges from the forward path at a diverging point before the shorting bridge, comes to an open end and is one-fourth wavelength long of a second frequency in the band of use.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus which provide solutions for avoiding journal overflow in after and before journal methods of a backup and recovery system used with a storage system. The after journal method solutions, which are conducted when the amount of free space reaches a threshold, include periodically taking a new snapshot and deleting the oldest journal, periodically taking a new logical snapshot and deleting the oldest journal, stopping the taking journal entries when the journal volume is full, and stopping the taking journal entries when the journal volume is full and then switching to bitmap management. The before journal method solution, which is conducted when the amount of free space reaches a threshold, includes applying wrap-around overwriting to overwrite the oldest journal entry by the newest journal entry.

Abstract:
A compact and lightweight case for a portable sewing machine has a hollow rectangular base which receives and is secured to the bed of a sewing machine and a cover which rests on the base and surrounds those parts of the machine which extend above the bed. One of such parts has a handle which extends outwardly through an opening in the top wall of the cover so that the case can be lifted through the medium of the sewing machine by lifting the machine by way of the handle.
Abstract:
A vehicle includes a motor generator and an engine generating driving power for running, and an ECU for controlling the motor generator and the engine. If user request power and a vehicle speed are substantially constant when inertial running control is selected by a user, the ECU causes driving power variation operation to be performed on the motor generator and the engine in which the motor generator and the engine are switched between a low output state and a high output state. The vehicle runs with inertial force of the vehicle in the low output state. As a result, energy efficiency during vehicle running can be improved.
Abstract:
A vehicle includes: a power storage device; a motor generator that generates traveling driving power using electric power from the power storage device; an ECU; and an inclination detecting unit for detecting inclination of a road surface. The ECU performs power changing driving in which the vehicle is traveled while switching the motor generator between a first state and a second state, driving power of a first level being generated in the first state, driving power smaller than the driving power generated in the first state being generated in the second state. When the ECU recognizes, based on the inclination detected by the inclination detecting unit, that the vehicle is traveling on a road surface having a slope, the ECU eases up at least one of an upper limit value and a lower limit value of SOC of the power storage device.
Abstract:
A hybrid vehicle includes an engine and a motor each for generating vehicle driving power. An operation region indicated by rotational speed and torque of the engine includes: an normal region in which a fuel injection amount is calculated in accordance with a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio; and an amount increase region in which an amount of fuel is increased compared with the normal position so as to suppress temperature increase of a catalyst. A control device calculates a total required power of the vehicle depending on the vehicle state, and determines an engine operation point in accordance with the total required power. When the engine operation point is in the OT amount increase region, the engine operation point is changed to fall within the normal region by decreasing the engine output power. An output power of the motor is determined to compensate the decrease of the engine output power and secure the total required power.
Abstract:
A vehicle includes a motor generator generating driving power for running, and an ECU. The ECU performs driving power variation operation on the motor generator in which the motor generator is switched between a first state (acceleration running) and a second state (inertial running) when power requested by a user varies within a prescribed range to run the vehicle. In the first state, the motor generator generates driving power. In the second state, the motor generator generates driving power smaller than the driving power in the first state. The ECU variably sets a time for the second state in the driving power variation operation in accordance with magnitude of the user request power. As a result, energy efficiency of the vehicle is improved.
