摘要: A method of and an apparatus for controlling boost pressure in a turbocharged internal combustion engine. A turbine disposed in the engine exhaust passage is driven by exhaust gas and in turn drives a compressor disposed in the engine air intake passage, thus boosts the engine combustion chamber by delivering pressurized air thereto. The boost pressure is reduced when the actual ignition timing becomes more retarded than a reference ignition timing. The reference ignition timing is varied in proportion to an engine speed and/or an intake air pressure. Since the decision whether or not to reduce the boost pressure is based on the ignition timing actually being applied to the engine, no risk of damage to the engine arises and unnecessary reduction of engine output can be reliably prevented, enabling the engine to operate with optimum performance.

摘要: A method of and an apparatus for detecting the maximum cylinder pressure angle in an internal combustion engine. The method comprises the steps of measuring the time lapse required for the engine crankshaft to pass between a reference crankshaft angle such as TDC and the crankshaft angle at which the cylinder pressure becomes maximum and multiplying the measured time lapse by a time-angle conversion factor. The rate of change in the engine rotation speed is taken into consideration in carrying out the time-angle conversion so that it is possible to accurately determine the position at which the cylinder pressure becomes maximum in terms of crankshaft angle regardless of the operating condition of the engine. In the apparatus, the engine speed change rate is also compensated. The time-angle conversion can be carried out accurately even when there is used a crankshaft angle sensor which detects the crankshaft angle at relatively large intervals such as once every 30 degrees.

摘要: A device for controlling ignition timing in an internal combustion engine comprises a compression sensor disposed in the vicinity of the combustion chamber of each cylinder. Acceleration and other transient conditions of the engine driving conditions are detected on the basis of the output of the pressure sensor. When a transient condition is detected, the target maximum combustion angle is altered by a prescribed amount in the direction of retarding the ignition timing and the ignition timing of the next cylinder to fire is compensated by an amount which is less than the prescribed amount. As the transient conditions are directly detected from the state of combustion, the transient response is improved, and as the compensation is carried out stepwise, the drivability is improved.
