    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide a slider that may suppress contamination from being attached to the flying surface of the slider without influence on reduction of the flying height of the slider. Ions exerting an effect of decreasing surface energy are implanted in the whole surface of a flying surface of a magnetic head slider except for a front rail surface and a center rail surface. According to this, contamination is prevented from being attached to a front step bearing surface, a side step bearing surface, a center step bearing surface and a negative pressure groove where contamination is particularly liable to be attached in the flying surface of the magnetic head slider, so as to suppress destabilization in flying of the slider.

    摘要: A head-slider which is configured to fly above a magnetic-recording disk. The head-slider includes a disk-facing side, which faces the magnetic-recording disk. The disk-facing side includes a plurality of surfaces including at least: a step bearing surface; a rail surface, which protrudes toward the magnetic-recording disk and is configured to exert a positive pressure; a deep-recessed surface, which is formed deeper than the step bearing surface and is configured to exert a negative pressure; an extended lateral surface, which is formed at substantially a same depth as the step bearing surface and disposed outside the deep-recessed surface in a width direction of the head-slider; and, an extended rear surface, which is formed at substantially the same depth as the step bearing surface and disposed at a trailing edge of the head-slider, and contiguous with the extended lateral surface.

    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide a head slider that suppresses accumulation of lubricant droplets on an air-bearing surface due to a backflow, and thus improves reliability of a disk drive. According to one embodiment, a lubricant droplet being adhered to a head slider and accumulated thereon, which are caused by extremely low flying height of the head slider, are prevented from falling onto a recording medium. When velocity of a recording medium at a position where the head slider faces the recording medium is assumed to be v, step depth δ4 at an outflow side of an outflow side rail satisfies, δ4≦0.1125*log10(v)+0.019.

    摘要: Systems, methods and apparatus relate to handling and processing glass, such as glass for use in liquid crystal displays, involving a measurement device, such as a distortion gauge, residing in an environmentally controlled measurement room, and a cassette loading device for storage and conveyance of glass between the measurement device and other components of a glass handling and processing system residing with the cassette loading device in a preparation room. A mail-slot opening may be present in a wall separating the measurement room from the preparation room. A gauge conveyor may convey glass between the cassette loading device and the measurement device. A distortion gauge may measure a reference value of the product glass with respect to reference marks on a glass reference plate of the distortion gauge. Other examples of a measurement device include a warp gauge, a stress gauge, a thickness gauge, and a compaction gauge.
