    摘要: A machine for cutting flat glass sheets has a fixed frame for supporting a worktable, which can be lifted, with rotation device, for loading and unloading sheets or sheet portions, and a movable bridge capable of performing a translational motion with respect to the worktable which supports a cutting head capable of moving on the bridge. The movable bridge slides on rails associated with a fixed frame and the rotation device for the liftable worktable has at least one lifting arm, which is fixed to the movable worktable and pivoted to the fixed frame, the lifting arm being contoured so as to extend around and not affect, during its rotation, the rails for the movable bridge, a portion of the rails extending so as to affect the region of rotation of the lifting arm.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for forming vents (13) in glass sheets (10). The method includes repetitively performing the steps of: (I) bringing a score head (21) and a platen (31) into contact with, respectively, the front (11) and rear (12) major surfaces of the glass sheet (10), (II) moving the score head (21) across the front major surface (11) along a predetermined path to form a vent (13), and (III) withdrawing the score head (21) and the platen (31) from the front (11) and rear (12) major surfaces, wherein: (i) the thickness (δ) of the glass sheet is less than or equal to 500 microns, and (ii) for each repetition of steps (I) through (III), the platen (31) is cleaned after step (III) and before step (I) to remove glass chips which if left on the platen (31) could cause the score head (21) to penetrate through the thickness δ.

The chip manufacturing method includes a shield tunnel forming step of applying a pulsed laser beam to the workpiece from a focusing unit included in a pulsed laser beam applying unit along the contour of the chip to be formed, with the focal point of the pulsed laser beam set at a predetermined depth from the upper surface of the workpiece, thereby forming a plurality of shield tunnels inside the workpiece along the contour of the chip to be formed. Each shield tunnel has a fine hole and an amorphous region formed around the fine hole for shielding the fine hole. In a chip forming step, ultrasonic vibration is applied to the workpiece to break the contour of the chip where the shield tunnels have been formed, thereby forming the chip from the workpiece.
