摘要: Described herein are methods of reducing Salmonella in the intestines of poultry in need thereof by administering to a poultry bird an effective amount of an interleukin-10 peptide or an isolated antibody that specifically binds an interleukin-10 peptide. Administering may be performed within 1 to 4 weeks of harvest of the poultry in order to reduce Salmonella transmission to human consumers. Also included herein are finishing feeds that include an interleukin-10 peptide or an isolated antibody that specifically binds an interleukin-10 peptide.

摘要: The role of a specific E2 region containing a putative fusion peptide (FP) sequence was evaluated. FPs critically contribute to the interaction between proteins and the membrane system of the host cell. Reverse genetics utilizing a full-length infectious clone of the highly virulent CSFV strain Brescia (BICv) was used to evaluate how amino acid substitutions within this region of E2 may affect replication of BICv in cell cultures and affect virus virulence in swine. Interestingly, mutated virus FPi.c was completely attenuated when inoculated intranasally at a dose of 105 TCID50 in swine. Importantly, animals infected with FPi.c virus were protected against the virulent challenge with Brescia virus at 3 and 28 days after vaccination. Protection was evidenced by absence of clinical signs related with CSF as well as the absence of viremia produced by the challenge virulent virus.

摘要: Disclosed is an elastomer synthesized by a reacting epoxidized vegetable oil with carboxylic acid to form the elastomer compound. More specifically, disclosed herein is an elastomer compound having a polyester component. The method for making the elastomer comprises mixing a polybasic acid with an alcohol solvent to form a solution, reacting said solution having carboxylic groups with epoxidized vegetable oil, and heating the solution at a range of approximately 50° C. to 80° C., wherein an amorphous polyester elastomer is formed. Also disclosed is an elastomer foam product formed by a reacting epoxidized vegetable oil with carboxylic acid.

摘要: Improvement of fiber quality of Upland cultivars (Gossypium hirsutum), while maintaining early maturity and productivity, is a fundamental problem in conventional cotton breeding. Phytochromes play a fundamental role in plant development, flowering and cotton fiber length. Targeted RNAi of PHYA1 genes in cotton suppressed expression of PHYA1 and/or PHYB, resulting in over-expression of the remaining PHYA2/B/C/E genes. This altered expression induced a number of phytochrome-associated phenotypes, including increased root length and mass, increased anthocyanin-pigment, vigorous shoot development and vegetative growth, early flowering, early boll maturity, increased fiber length and increased seed cotton yield compared to control plants. These RNAi phenotypes were stably inherited and expressed through four generations (T0-3) and were transferable from RNAi Coker-312 plants to Upland cultivars via conventional hybridization.
