Abstract:
An automatic head care system capable of reliably caring, such as kneading and washing, or massaging, an entire occipital region with the occipital region securely supported is realized. By a method using an automatic head care system including an occipital region care unit having an occipital region contact unit and a pair of care arms having head contact units, when the care arms care a head except for an occipital region, the occipital region contact unit of the occipital region care unit supports the occipital region, and when the occipital region care unit cares the occipital region, the head contact units of the care arms support the head.

A pelvis interface may include a subject attachment module including a waist attachment and a back attachment. The interface may further include an arm assembly coupled to the subject attachment module, the arm assembly including a plurality of arms so coupled to one another and/or to the subject attachment module as to permit the subject attachment module at least one pelvis translation degree of freedom and at least one pelvis rotation degree of freedom. The interface may further include motors so coupled to the arm assembly as to actuate at least one pelvis translation degree of freedom and at least one pelvis rotation degree of freedom.
Abstract:
A hand held tool 10 has a handle 14, a contact member 16, and an electric motor 12. The contact member has a contact surface portion 17 lying in a first plane. The motor 12 has a stator 23 and an armature 19. The armature 19 is able to move with non-rotary translational motion relative to the stator 23 in a second plane which is parallel to the first plane. One of the stator 23 and the armature 19 is attached to the handle 14, while the other is attached to the contact member 16. Relative motion of the stator 23 and armature 19 imparts relative motion between the handle 14 and the contact member 16. A resilient coupling 18 is coupled between the handle 14 and the contact member 16 and applies a bias against the relative motion between the handle 14 and contact member 16.
Abstract:
A passive exercise assisting device comprises a left foot support, a right foot support, and a driving unit. The left foot support and the right foot support are configured to bear a left foot and a right foot of a user respectively. The driving unit is configured to move the left foot support and the right foot support so as to give motions to the left foot support and the right foot support in relation with each other. The driving unit comprises at least one of a horizontal motion applying mechanism and a rotation motion applying mechanism. The horizontal motion applying mechanism is configured move the left foot support and the right foot support laterally to the left foot support and the right foot support. The rotation motion applying mechanism is configured rotate the left foot support and the right foot support about horizontal axes to the left foot support and the right foot support. The passive exercise assisting device further comprises a vertical motion applying mechanism being configured to move the left foot support and the right foot support vertically to the left foot support and the right foot support.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system for rehabilitating an ankle in which a mobile platform receives a patient's foot. The mobile platform can be moved in six degrees of freedom. The position and orientation of the mobile platform is measured in relation to the fixed platform in six degrees of freedom. The force exerted by the foot against the mobile platform is measured in six degrees of freedom. The measured position and measured force are forwarded to an electronic interface and fed to a programmable computer. The programmable computer determines desired force feedback to be applied by the controller interface to the mobile platform. The desired feedback signal moves the mobile platform to a desired position or applies a desired force or torque to the mobile platform. The rehabilitation system can include simulation of virtual objects which can be moved by the user to simulate an exercise. For example, the virtual reality simulation can include exercises for balance, flexibility and strength. The system can be remotely controlled in a telerehabilitation environment.
Abstract:
A rocking machine has an outer casing, an upper seat, a motor, a hollow connector, a drive member, a right rocking member, and a left rocking member. The motor which is disposed in the outer casing has a shaft inserted in the hollow connector. The hollow connector has an upper rod. The drive member has an upper block, a lower oblong groove, and two lower oblong recesses. The right rocking member has an upper through aperture and a lower through aperture. The left rocking member has an upper through hole and a lower through hole. The upper rod is inserted in the lower oblong groove. The upper seat is disposed on the drive member. The right rocking member receives a right lower portion of the drive member. The left rocking member receives a left lower portion of the drive member. Four angle plates are fastened in the outer casing to position the right and the left rocking members pivotally.
Abstract:
A device to physically massage a person, the subject lying in a horizontal position and the massaging device positioned over the subject. The massager is comprised of an outer cage in the form of a rectangular cubed structure and an inner carriage in the form of a square frame which is positioned within the cage. The inner carriage, fitted with and mounted on bearings, traverses horizontally toward and away from patient, on guiding tracks, tracks being rigidly mounted in outer cage, this movement being provided by a motor driven crank. The above mentioned carriage assembly houses 4 horizontally-mounted elongated arms, which are rectangular in form, extending out beyond the cage's perimeter and which are raised vertically by a motor driven crankshaft, then dropped by gravity on patient. A spring-assisted adjustable device is incorporated to effect the intensity of the arm drop weight on a patient. The above described massaging apparatus is mounted on an upright cylindrical pipe structure to facilitate its movement in a horizontal oscillating motion by a motor-mounted crank arm.
