Abstract: A semi-automated bulk sorting system includes a primary conveyor having a proximate end and a distal end, where the proximate end of the primary conveyor is configured for collecting outbound parcels and cartons that are to be sorted. The system includes a manual sort center coupled downstream from the primary conveyor and configured to partially sort the parcels and cartons. A parcel final sortation zone is coupled downstream from the manual sort center for receiving the partially sorted parcels and is configured to finally sort the parcels for delivery. In addition, the system includes a plurality of carton palletization zones coupled downstream from the manual sort center for receiving the sorted cartons and to palletize the sorted cartons for delivery.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for presenting in a longitudinal line packages initially arranged in rows i, at a determined isolated-package pace D, using at least a regulating conveyor belt and two line-forming conveyor belts. After separating rows adjacent in the longitudinal direction, rows are sequentially presented onto the regulating conveyor belt, the dimensions of the spaces between end packages of the row and the reference inside and outside dimensions with respect to the regulating conveyor belt and the number of packages on the belt are measured optically, the speed of the line-forming conveyor belts for maintaining the determined pace D is calculated, the paths of the packages are calculated and the moment at which to release the packages of row from the regulating belt onto the line-forming conveyor belts so that the inside package of row i does not meet the outside package of row i−1 is determined.

The article induction system includes a destacking section, a separation and alignment section, a buffer section and a culling section manned by an operator. A controller controls the speed of each component based on measurements provided by sensors so as to feed articles to the operator at a desired paced rate.

Abstract: This invention relates generally to a conveyor assembly for separating and aligning parcels, packages, bags and other articles prior to processing with a singulator. The stepped wall assembly includes a low friction conveying surface having both forward and lateral conveying forces for moving articles toward a lateral sidewall and a downstream conveyor. A series of offsets disposed between straight and diverging sidewalls force parcels toward the center of the conveyor against the lateral forces of the low friction conveying surface gradually separating and converging the parcels toward a selected sidewall of the conveyor and in line with a singulator apparatus.

Abstract: The postal sorting machine comprises a sorting conveyor suitable for transporting postal articles in series past sorting outlets and a postal article feed unit having a magazine for loosely storing postal articles to be sorted and a separator that has a robotized arm and a vision sensor and that is suitable for picking up the postal articles to be sorted one-by-one from the magazine and for putting them on the sorting conveyor while placing them in series at constant pitch. The sorting conveyor has a flat conveyor that slopes sideways to form a jogging edge against which the postal articles are jogged by gravity.
