Abstract:
A pine oil cleaning concentrate composition comprising as essential constituents: pine oil, a nonionic surfactant with a cloud point of 20.degree. C. or less, a solubilizing agent and, water, feature reduced levels of volatile organic contents, including reduced amounts of pine oil, yet provides good blooming characteristics upon mixing of the concentrate composition with a further amount of water to produce a cleaning composition therefrom. The pine oil cleaning compositions may further include conventional additives, including germicidal agents, viscosity modification agents, fragrances (natural or synthetically produced), foaming agents, further surfactants, and coloring agents.
Abstract:
A process for preparing a storage-stable and free-flowing concentrated water-based liquid detergent containing 15 to 35% by weight of anionic surfactant, 20 to 35% by weight of nonionic surfactant, and from 5 to 20% by weight of alcohol. A dilute sodium hydroxide solution is heated to 70.degree. to 85.degree. C. to which is added a fatty acid and the alcohol. The mixture is stirred at 350 to 500 r.p.m. for 3 to 10 minutes. The anionic surfactant and nonionic surfactant are added to the mixture and stirred at 150 to 350 r.p.m.
Abstract:
A general purpose hard surface cleaner concentrate comprising an organic solvent system comprising from about 1 to about 10% of an organic solvent selected from the group of alkylene and polyalkylene glycols and lower alkyl ethers of alkylene and polyalkylene glycols; from about 3 to 15% of a nonionic or anionic surfactant; from about 1 to about 10% of a builder system comprising 25 to 99% of a first builder and from about 5 to 65% of a second builder which is a polyacrylic resin having a molecular weight between about 500 to about 8,000; from about 1 to about 15% of a hydrotrope which is an alkali metal salt of a cyclohexene dicarboxylic acid, and water. The preferred hydrotrope is the potassium salt of 5 (or 6) carboxy-4-hexyl-2-cyclohexene-1-octanoic acid. In use the concentrate is diluted to a ratio of 10 to 150 parts water per part of the concentrate, although is useful full strength as a spot cleaner.

Abstract:
Bioactive coatings that include a base and a protein associated with the base for actively promoting the removal of organic stains are provided. In aspects, bioactive coatings that are stabilized against inactivation by weathering are provided including a base associated with a chemically modified enzyme, and, optionally a first polyoxyethylene present in the base and independent of the enzyme. The coatings are optionally overlayered onto a substrate to form an active coating facilitating the removal of organic stains or organic material from food, insects, or the environment.
Abstract:
A method for controlling rheology of a unit dose liquid detergent composition includes providing a detergent composition containing less than 20% water, a detergent surfactant, and a rheology modification system comprising iminodisuccinic acid (IDS), ethanol, and polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight of 200 to 1,000 Daltons; and encapsulating the detergent composition in a pouch made of a water soluble film. The viscosity of a mixture of 2 parts of a low water detergent composition to 1 part water can be maintained below 1,000 cp at 1.08 reciprocal seconds where the detergent composition includes about 1% to about 10% by weight of a mixture of IDS, ethanol, and polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight of 200 to 1,000 Daltons.
