摘要: A submersible canal bypass is used to bypass the flow around a distinct section of an earthen canal for lining. The canal bypass is placed within the canal and uses a plurality of pipelines and a plurality of bulkheads assembled from portable modular sections. The headgates on the portable modular sections are so arranged along the bulkhead to divert the flow of water through bypass pipelines so as to isolate a section of the canal during lining activities and return the flow of water to the lined canal after lining.

摘要: A method of forming a continuous composite structure includes encapsulating solid additive particles with a first reactive liquid resin forming material and migrating part of the mixture through a porous blanket to form a continuous resin matrix within the blanket with adhesive outer surfaces. A thin coating of a second preselected resin forming material which substantially cures immediately upon application is applied over one major adhesive upper surface of the matrix/blanket while allowing an area of the adhesive surface to remain exposed along one edge of the upper surface thereof. A plurality of preselected flexible lengths of the coated matrix/blanket are individually positioned successively in an overlapping orientation with the exposed adhesive area of the upper surface of the adjoining positioned length tightly affixed to the adhesive lower surface of the succeeding length to form a continuous composite structure. Also, the composite structure and apparatus for producing same.

摘要: A method of forming a continuous structure includes the steps of preselecting a liquid reactive resin forming material, a particulate solid additive material and a porous blanket. The additive particles are mixed with the liquid resin forming material substantially continuously in a proportion significantly greater than that of the liquid resin forming material. Substantially all of the additive particles are encapsulated with the liquid resin forming material to a preselected thickness. A pool of the resulting mixture is formed on the blanket. The blanket is advanced at a rate sufficient to create movement of the additive particles within the pool and maintain the additive particles in suspension. Part of the liquid resin forming material is migrated through the blanket substantially uniformly prior to gelling of the liquid resin forming material to form a continuous resin matrix within the blanket. Also, apparatus forming the structure as well as the structure itself.

摘要: A continuous structural laminate includes a plurality of continuous generally parallel spaced integrally bonded porous blankets with a continuous polymeric matrix extending through each porous blanket. The polymeric matrices include solidified polymeric mixtures with each mixture including a polymer forming material, a gas foaming agent, a catalyst and a major portion of a particulate reinforcement. The polymeric matrices include compatible polymer forming materials. At least two of the blankets include polymeric matrices with differing particulate reinforcements. The continuous structural laminate is formed and applied with mobile apparatus including a support portion, a raw material supplying portion, a mixing portion, a matrix forming portion and a control portion. The support portion includes at least two base sections with carriages depending from a first base section including a plurality of spaced transverse axle assemblies and wheels mounted on free ends of each axle assembly. A boom section extends from the first base section with transfer mechanism selectively moving a second base section along the boom section. The raw material supplying portion includes a plurality of reservoirs disposed on the first base section. A blanket support also is disposed on the first base section. The mixing portion, matrix forming portion and blanket combining mechanism are disposed closely adjacent to the second base section and movable therewith.

摘要: A method of continuously forming an extended length of a unitary structure includes the following steps. A supply of a porous flexible blanket is provided. A high viscosity flowable solidifiable mixture is continuously flowed simultaneously into an entire continuously moving width of the porous flexible blanket. Pressure is applied against the treated blanket to form a uniform matrix therewith. The rate of advance of the blanket is monitored. The rate of advance is coordinated with the flow rate of the mixture into the blanket and with the pressure applied thereto. A substantially flat non-porous flexible envelope is positioned along the length of the treated blanket. The envelope/blanket combination is positioned along a desired path. A pressurized gas is introduced into the envelope. The envelope is inflated to move the treated blanket into a final configuration. The non-porous envelope is maintained in an inflated state until the treated blanket is set in the final configuration. Also, a unitary structure formed according to the above method.

摘要: An apparatus for lining a canal is described as well as the method for lining the canal. The apparatus comprises an elongated frame which extends transversely across the canal and which is propelled the length thereof. A concrete paver is supported on the frame and is designed to lay concrete on one of the sides of the canal and at least a portion of the bottom of the canal as the frame is moved along the length of the canal. A flexible sheet material is positioned on the canal sides and bottom just prior to the concrete being positioned thereon. The PVC is positioned on the canal in a substantially wrinkle-free and untensioned condition. The method of lining the canal is also described.

摘要: An economical method of constructing a means suitable for directing, transporting, or holding water based upon the use of an aqueous liquid silicone elastomeric emulsion to form a membrane on a depression surface which is suitable to direct, transport or hold water. The emulsion, which cures under atmospheric conditions, is sprayed on the depression surface, then dried. The construction is useful as a water harvesting structure with a long, useful life. Such structures are particularly useful in providing water for animals in arid regions.

摘要: A self-propelled apparatus for extruding and forming a substantially U-shaped concrete lining within a previously dug ditch and including means for accurately controlling the slope or grade of the interior bottom surface of the lining. The apparatus includes a hopper (41) for receiving concrete material and the lower end of the hopper is positioned within the ditch (10) and provided with an open rear end. A forming member (50) is supported for vertical movement at the open rear end of the hopper (41) and the forming member (50) with the sides and bottom of the ditch (10) together define an extrusion opening through which the concrete material passes. Control means (76) is associated with the forming member (50) for vertically adjusting the forming member (50) relative to the hopper (41) so that the slope, grade, or fall of the interior bottom wall (14) of the concrete lining is accurately controlled.

摘要: A concrete surfacing machine has a carriage mounting a concrete surfacing means, such as a rotary cutter, between front and rear wheels of the carriage which are independently adjustable in both the lengthwise and vertical directions of the carriage to accommodate surfacing of both flat and curved concrete surfaces and to effect both vertical adjustment and leveling of the surfacing means. The machine is equipped with a winch for propelling the carriage upwardly along an inclined surface and braking the carrriage during downward movement along such a surface and with a novel trolley suspension arrangement for restraining the carriage laterally on a surface which slopes laterally of the carriage.
