Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may measure a power value for each beam from one or more cells and calculate an average beam power for each cell. The UE may transmit these calculated averages to a base station in a report, and the base station may select a cell for communications based on the measurement report. The UE may also include a number indicating how many beams are used when calculating an average beam power, a ratio between a maximum and minimum beam power for each cell, two average beam powers based on two defined thresholds, or a combination of these measurements, in the transmitted report. The UE may add a bias to the average beam power for a particular cell to indicate a preference for that cell over the other candidate cells.

Abstract: Systems and methods for performing handover coordination between base stations are disclosed. In a first embodiment, a method is disclosed, comprising: receiving, at a base station, a first serving cell signal measurement and a first neighbor cell signal measurement from a particular user equipment (UE); sending an adjustment message, from the base station to the UE, containing a cell-specific offset of the serving cell and a cell-specific offset of the neighbor cell in a reporting threshold based on at least one handover adjustment factor received from a coordinating node; receiving, at the base station and subsequent to adjusting the cell-specific offsets, a second serving cell signal measurement and a second neighbor cell signal measurement; and deciding whether to trigger a handover event based on the first and the second serving cell signal measurement and the first and the second neighbor cell signal measurement and the cell-specific offsets.

Abstract: Embodiments of a user equipment (UE), an access node and a slice-based handover method are provided. In an embodiment of the method, a service request is sent from a UE to an access node. Multiple candidate slice instances provided by cells of the access node and its neighbor nodes that support the service request are then selected. Various measurement objects with respect to each candidate slice instance are measured and a measurement report is sent to the access node by the UE. A target cell with at least one slice instance that supports the service request is decided from the candidate slice instances according to the measurement report. Finally, a control command is sent to the UE by the access node to configure a connection between the UE and the target cell.

Abstract: A method in a Serving Access Node (SAN) for coordinating with a number of other SANs within a terminal device-specific serving cluster to which the SAN belongs. The method comprises determining an assignment of a communication direction to a timeslot. The assignment of the communication direction to the timeslot is common to all SANs in the serving cluster. The method further comprises transmitting or receiving at least one test beam in the communication direction during the timeslot.
