Abstract: An assay for a genetic marker associated with increased milk production is disclosed. Also disclosed are kits for use in connection with the assay and breeding methods that use the assay. The assay centers on finding a genetic marker in a bovine cell (e.g. in the DNA of the cell). The presence of the marker is confirmed by exposing a gene sequence from the cell to a restriction enzyme so as to yield gene fragments of varying lengths. During a separation step there is a separation of some of the fragments from others (such as by using electrophoresis), and there is then a hybridization of a plurality of probes that contain a portion of bovine prolactin sequence to the separated fragments. The probe is radiolabelled. Then, there is a comparison of the results of the hybridization with the hybridization results for a gene sequence known to either have the marker or not have the marker. The assay appears to be of greatest utility in connection with the Carlin-M Ivanhoe Bell Holstein family.

Abstract: An enclosed aquaculture system for growing fish comprises several successively interconnected container stages for holding growing fish. Each of the container stages has a size larger than the container stage preceding it, continuous interconnections between the container stages and a gate within the continuous interconnections controll the movement of the fish as the fish swim between the container stages. Fish of substantially the same size are maintained in each container stage as they are growing to prevent predatory destruction of smaller fish by larger fish and stress free transfer fo fish is provided as they swim form one container stage to another. In addition, methods for the continuous growing of fish in such an enclosed aquaculture system are disclosed.

Abstract: A method and composition designed especially to reduce livestock adaptation stress when livestock are transported. The composition comprises as major ingredients, molasses, preferably beet molasses, and propylene glycol and as minor ingredients, protein mix, vitamin mix, trace mineral mix, major mineral mix, and amino acids. Each of the ingredients are separately admixed with propylene glycol until substantial homogeneity is achieved, followed by adding each of the separately mixed ingredients to beet molasses. Thereafter, mixing is continued until complete homogeneity is achieved. The result of individual mixing of each minor ingredient with propylene glycol, prior to admixing all with beet molasses, provides a synergistic result in significantly reducing livestock stress during adaptation to new feed lot environments. The correction of the stress results in improved performance and reduced death loss.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems, apparatuses and methods for regulation hormone production in mammals. Examples include but are not limited to by creating electro-magnetic wave emission pulse trains (photons) of individual color spectrums in sufficient intensity to drive hormone production in a mammal, using a characteristic frequency or pattern to minimize the required input power necessary to regulate hormone production, while also allowing for the monitoring of the power consumption and other variables of the system. By controlling the duty cycle, intensity, wavelength band and frequency of photon signals to a mammal, production of specific hormones can be regulated through the cycling between blue, green, yellow, near-red, far-red, infrared and ultra violet photon modulation.
