A heat pipe includes a step pipe, a mesh, and a supporting component. The step pipe has an evaporating section and two condensing sections. The condensing sections are on the two ends of the step pipe, respectively. The evaporating section lies between the two condensing sections. The inner spaces of the two condensing sections and the evaporating section are interconnected. The peripheral dimension of the evaporating section is larger than the peripheral dimension of each of the condensing sections. The mesh is contained in the step pipe and located inside the evaporating section and the condensing sections. The supporting component is contained in the step pipe and wrapped in the mesh. The combination of these structures increases air's flow rate inside the heat pipe and improves the heat pipe's heat conduction efficiency.

Infrared burners are disclosed herein that can be configured to integrate a glowing design, pattern, logo, or text. In various embodiments, ports located on portions of the surface of a ceramic plate are varied in size. Infrared radiation emitted by particular portions of the ceramic plate can thereby be varied to provide for emphasis or de-emphasis of certain portions of an infrared burner. The emphasized or deemphasized portions of the infrared burner can be used to depict designs, patterns, logos, or text. Furthermore, one or more designs, patterns, logos, or text can be integrated.

The first porous wick portion is defined by a first set of microgrooves. The present invention relates to a heat sink having juxtaposed heat pipes and a method for manufacturing the same. The heat sink includes a base, a plurality of heat pipes and a pair of side strips. The base has a surface on which an open trough and an insertion trough on both sides of the open trough are provided. Each heat pipe has an evaporating section. The evaporating sections are juxtaposed in the open trough and adhered to each other. Each evaporating section has a planar surface. The side strips are fixed into the insertion troughs and protrude from the surface of the base. The planar surface of each evaporating section and the outer surface of each side strip are coplanar. By this structure, the thermal contact surface between the heat pipes and electronic heat-generating sources is increased, so that the heat-dissipating efficiency of the heat sink is improved.

A method and apparatus for cooling modules in a radio system is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an adaptor module with side walls and integrated heat exchanging elements. The adaptor module adapts the air flow from a chassis in the radio system such that the exiting ducting on the chassis efficiently mate with the air conduits in the modules. The adaptor allows the use of new high power density modules in the existing chassis without changing the module design. The use of adaptor module in chassis provides efficient cooling and use less volume in the chassis.

In accordance with the present invention, there are provided solar water pasteurizers that are portable, efficient, inexpensive and easy to use. In its simplest form, the solar pasteurizer includes a transparent container such as a bag or envelope that contains at least one energy converting structure and has sufficient insulation to enable heating water to a temperature of at least 65° C. (and preferably to a temperature of at least 70° C.) for a time sufficient to achieve pasteurization (at 65-70° C., a period of only about 6 minutes is required for pasteurization). Invention solar pasteurizers are particularly useful for pasteurizing water. In additional embodiments, invention solar pasteurizers include additional features, such as, for example, a water pasteurization indicator, and a receptacle for retaining same within the invention container. In accordance with another embodiment of the invention, there are provided methods for pasteurizing water employing solar pasteurizers described herein, as well as kits suitable to convert any transparent water tight container into a solar water pasteurizer.
