    Abstract: A device for sealing joining surfaces of a split rim in a wheel. The split rim comprises an outboard rim and an inboard rim. A joining surface of the outboard rim is formed at its outer periphery with an annular recess of L-shaped section. The annular recess has a bottom surface formed at its base portion with a peripheral groove which receives therein an inner periphery of a seal ring. A joining surface of the inboard rim has at its outer peripheral portion an annular projection of a stepped-like section. The depth of the annular recess is shorter than the sum of the diameter of the seal ring and the thickness of the inner annular projection.

    Abstract: A structure for sealing air valves for split rim type wheels having an outer split rim member with a hole therein passing through a first end surface. The hole is provided with a screw thread. An inner split rim member has a passage therethrough from the periphery to a second end surface which butts with the first end surface of the outer split rim member. A sealing member is disposed in the hole, and an air valve is threadedly engaged in the hole to compress the sealing member against the second surface of the inner split rim member.

    Abstract: A wheel having an inflatable tire and designed to be used on automobiles, airplanes, trucks, and the like. The tire has an outer wall provided with an outer tread surface and surrounding a predetermined axis, this outer wall having a pair of opposed side edge regions from which a pair of side walls extend integrally from the outer wall inwardly toward the axis and terminate in inner peripheral edges which surround the axis. An intermediate wall is integral with the outer wall and is situated between and spaced from the side walls, also extending inwardly toward the axis so as to define with the outer walls a pair of air chambers which are separated from each other by the intermediate wall. The wheel includes a suitable mounting structure on which the tire is mounted in such a way that fluid-tight seals are provided at the inner peripheral edges of the side and intermediate walls. In this way if the tire should become punctured or lose air pressure for any reason at one of its chambers it will still be capable of providing fully operative service as a result of the air pressure in the other of its chambers.

    Abstract: A vehicle wheel mounting assembly is positioned on a pivoted spring-loaded arm secured to a vehicle frame. Two identical assemblies are mounted adjacent each other but displayed longitudinally along the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. The assembly is reversible and is therefor interchangeable without variation. The wheel mounting assembly includes a wheel spindle carrier formed integrally at one end of one of the spring-loaded pivoted arms. The spindle carrier includes at the end remote from the vehicle frame an opening extending therethrough having an axis substantially horizontal and extending substantially transverse to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. A wheel spindle is inserted in one end of the opening in the spindle carrier and includes a shoulder for abutting the periphery of the opening. An ejector shaft extends into the carrier from the opposite end and threadedly engages the wheel spindle. The spindle supports wheel bearings and a hub including a brake drum thereon to which a wheel and tire may be secured.
