    摘要: In order to be able to cut short workpieces by means of a multiple blade circular sawing machine a separate depresser member is provided for each saw blade. This depresser member has a slot which extends in the longitudinal direction of this member and through which the respective saw blade projects. A depresser member is so connected to an associated displacer head that together therewith it is displaceable to a defined position and is fixable in this position. Furthermore, at least one presser roller is provided in each depresser blade on both sides of the saw blade in the sawing region and the workpiece to be sawn is pressed thereby against a conveyor chain.

    摘要: A container for an extrusion press with a liner space which has its shape defined by at least one, if desirable several, component parts in which in the liner wall where the highest stresses arise there is provided at least one groove or similar recess. These grooves run approximately in the extrusion direction, and are filled and sealed with a weld which behaves elastically during extrusion. The intrusion of extruded metal into the gaps is thus prevented and a longer lifetime of the container is achieved.

    摘要: Automatic lumbering apparatus for sawing lumber into columns, boards, small sections or other shapes. At least one of conveyor rollers positioned perpendicularly to the vertical plane in which a saw is positioned is angularly displaceable in a horizontal plane relative to the vertical plane of the saw in the direction of travel of the lumber to maintain the lumber in close contact with a ruler member to obtain a straight cut. In addition to those conveyor rollers, a pair of rollers are provided above the horizontal plane of the conveyor rollers and adapted to be brought into frictional contact with the lumber placed on the conveyor rollers. One of those upper rollers is angularly displaceable relative to the vertical plane of the saw to the same extent and in the same direction as the angularly displaceable lower conveyor roller, while the other upper roller is kept perpendicular to the plane of the saw. According to one embodiment of the invention, the upper rollers are adapted to be positively driven, while the lower conveyor rollers are of the nature which are caused to rotate by the frictional contact with the lumber placed thereon. According to another embodiment, the lower conveyor rollers are adapted to be positively driven to transport the lumber placed thereon. In the latter embodiment, none of the upper rollers are necessary.

    摘要: A piece of lumber is fed flat to the infeed end of a marking station, tilted on edge and driven endwise into the marking station where defects in the piece are detected and marked with a retroreflective material. The marked piece moves to a defectcutting station where it is driven endwise past a pair of defectcutting saws until a marked defect is sensed between the saws to stop movement of the piece and actuate the saws to remove the defective section. The clear piece downstream of the saws is measured and, if longer than a minimum length range, diverted to a cut-to-length saw station. If within the minimum length range, it is diverted to a ''''core block'''' sort. If shorter than the minimum range, it is diverted to junk. The piece upstream of the saws is measured and diverted in the same manner as the downstream piece except that upstream pieces longer than the minimum length range resume travel past the defect saws. Longlength sensors at the defect station determine if a piece contains any one of several specified defect-free long lengths and if so, set a stop downstream of the defect saws corresponding to the longest specified clear length sensed and then actuate only one of the defect saws to cut the piece to such length when the piece reaches the set stop. Such piece is then diverted directly to a sorting station. Random length clear pieces transferred to the cut-to-length station are pressed against a series of depressible stop-sensors determining various specified lengths, driven endwise over the stop-sensors past a length saw until one of the stop-sensors is released, then driven in reverse against the released stop. The length saw then strokes to cut the piece to specified length, after which the piece is sorted according to length as determined by the released stop-sensor.

    摘要: Apparatus and method for positioning an elongate workpiece so that it may be worked, e.g. by cutting, sawing, drilling, trenching or shearing, at any preselected point along its length, including the steps of passing the workpiece from a working tool on a longitudinal conveyor; selecting a stop from a plurality of such stops which are serially spaced from said working tool over at least part of the length of the conveyor; adjusting the longitudinal position relative to the conveyor and to the working tool of a common structure carrying said stops, the distances between the stops being uniform, and placing said selected stop in the path of the workpiece to arrest its further progress on the conveyor. Pneumatic cushioning means are interposed between the common structure and the means for adjusting the common structure. The cushioning means are employed to absorb impact by allowing limited movement to the common structure when the workpiece abuts the selected stop, and then to reverse the said movement of the common structure to reposition the stop and hence to bring the preselected location of the workpiece opposite the working tool.
