    摘要: The present disclosure provides an improved system and method of operating a fuel injector of an engine to provide at least two different types of fuel spray in a combustion chamber of the engine by application of ultrasonic pulses to fuel in the fuel injector during an injection event. A first type of spray includes larger droplets that reduce the effective diffusion combustion area around the droplets and a second type of spray includes relatively small droplets that increase the effective diffusion combustion area around the droplets.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine includes a combustion chamber defined by a cylinder, a piston defining a piston top, a cylinder head with an intake port and an exhaust port, and a corresponding intake valve and an exhaust valve. The internal combustion engine further includes an intake manifold for supplying air to the combustion chamber and an exhaust manifold for drawing exhaust gas from the combustion chamber. The flow dynamics of the internal combustion engine are improved by including textured surfaces on one or more of the piston top, the cylinder head, the intake valve, the intake port, the exhaust valve, the intake manifold, the exhaust manifold, or the fuel supplier. The textured surface may include indentations, protrusions, or combinations.

    摘要: The performance of an internal combustion engine is optimized utilizing an electrically controlled driver which is located relative to the intake port to excite the intake charge at a selected frequency, duration and power level which depends on the engine operating condition. The purpose of this excitation is to control combustion by optimizing large scale recirculation patterns of the intake charge within the combustion chamber. In particular, this device will provide the effect of optimizing volumetric efficiency at wide open throttle and minimize fuel consumption and emissions at part throttle. An electronic engine controller varies the operation of the drive device as a function of engine operating conditions. The driver excites the intake charge at a frequency of about 5 to 1000 times of the engine speed.

    摘要: In an engine using fuel of low startability, there are provided an ultrasc atomizer and a fuel injection valve arranged on a suction pipe of the engine, and a catalyzer unit mounted between said ultrasonic atomizer and a fuel injection valve. When the engine is started, the fuel atomized by the ultrasonic atomizer is supplied to the catalyzer unit to generate an intermediate product of high volatility. After the engine has been started, fuel is supplied through the fuel injection valve. When a fuel is passed through the catalyzer unit such as methanol fuel, aldehyde is generated by a decomposition reaction, reforming reaction, partial oxidation reaction, etc., or dimethylether is generated by a dehydrating condensation reaction. By supplying this intermediate product of high volatility to the engine, the startability of the engine at low temperatures is improved.
