    摘要: A cooling-water temperature is detected at startup of an engine. When the detected temperature falls below a set water-temperature, a water pump is stopped independently of a normal control on rotational frequency of the water pump depending on engine operational state. Calculated is a total heat amount required for raising the current water-temperature to the set water-temperature, and integrated is an heat amount lost by the cooling water from the engine from the startup. When an integrated value reaches the total heat amount, the water pump is operated for a required time to uniformize temperature distribution of the cooling water. Then, the cooling-water temperature is detected again. If the detected temperature is still below the set water-temperature, the same control is repeated; if the detected temperature is equal to or greater than the set water-temperature, the normal control is restored.

    摘要: A starting system for an internal combustion engine automatically operates a starting feature on a carburetor associated with the engine. The starting system includes a cam with a bearing mounted on the crankshaft. The bearing is secured so that its inner race will always rotate with the crankshaft. The cam has bosses on one side and is shaped such that it includes a base and a lobe with an outer surface surrounding the cam. At least one spring-loaded pawl is mounted on the flywheel. The pawl is biased to engage a cam boss so as to cause the cam to rotate with the crankshaft during a start-up process. A spring loaded rocker arm is pivotally mounted adjacent the cam. The rocker arm has a roller assembly configured to ride on the outer surface of the cam. As the cam rotates, the roller assembly riding on the cam surface is pushed outward by the cam lobe. A throttle cable is attached at a first end to the rocker arm and at its opposite end to the starting feature on the carburetor. When the roller assembly ramps up the lobe, the throttle cable is pulled into an extended position to actuate the starting feature of the carburetor.

    摘要: An engine having a crank shaft which is caused to start to rotate by pulling a recoil rope includes: a reel around which the recoil rope is wound; a clutch mechanism which is provided between the reel and the crank shaft and switchable between a first state and a second state; and a sub-generator connected to the reel. The first state of the clutch mechanism allows transmission of force in one direction from the reel to the crank shaft, while the second state does not allow transmission of force in both directions between the reel and the crank shaft. When the crank shaft is caused to start to rotate, the clutch mechanism is switched to the first state, whereas when the sub-generator is driven for power generation, the clutch mechanism is switched to the second state.

Preferably, the control system includes a single input that effectuates both the choke and primer operations associated with starting the engine. Preferably, the dial is moveable in a rotational direction to effectuate the choking operation and is movable in a longitudinal or axial direction to effectuate the priming operation such that user interaction with only the single input effectuates the sequence of the engine starting fuel control.

    摘要: A pull-cord start system has a recoil pulley coupled to a crankshaft of a combustion engine and a pull-cord wound about the recoil pulley that is pulled by an end user to rotate the recoil pulley and thereby start the engine. A throttle override device of the pull-cord start system has a shuttle coupled to the pull-cord for movement from a biased rest position to an active position when the pull-cord is being pulled by an end user. A linkage of the throttle override device and preferably being a Bowden cable extends between a throttle control and a throttle valve of a carburetor and is interlinked to the shuttle so that actuation of the throttle control when the shuttle is in the active position will not open the throttle valve that is biased preferably in an idle position because movement of the shuttle to the active position produces slack in the linkage.
