    摘要: A method for manufacturing a forging includes forming a bi-material billet by enclosing a core material other than steel in a steel cylinder with a cylindrical wall and steel end caps. The cylindrical wall is heated. The method includes a first forging blow on the heated billet or on a disk-shaped rough forging forged from the heated billet with a first closed blocker die to produce a forging preform, and a second forging blow on the preform with a second closed blocker die to produce a netshape forging. An evacuation hole is formed in a steel shell of the netshape forging and the core material is removed from the netshape forging via the hole. At least 85 percent of the core material is in a liquid phase during the first and second forging blows, and removal of the core material.

Accordingly, the surface of the gear is carburized and the gear is strengthened by imparting residual stress, with the residual stress in the region with a surface depth of 5 μm to 20 μm being −1000 MPa or less, and the residual stress in the region with a surface depth of 50 μm to 150 μm being −1000 MPa or greater.

    摘要: Composite gear blanks are manufactured by placing a rigid centerpiece in a mold, optionally inertizing the mold, filling the mold by adding a liquid reactive mixture around the centerpiece, applying static pressure to the mold and polymerizing the reactive mixture so as to form a plastic outer part surrounding the centerpiece. The composite gear blanks thus made have improved values of normal and shear adhesion strength both at room temperature and at elevated temperatures of up to 120° C. and are particularly suited for making worm gear parts of automotive electronic power steering systems.
