    摘要: A process is provided for electrodepositing a covering layer of lead-tin on the surface of a bearing structure formed by co-electrodepositing lead, copper and tin which process comprises providing a metallic substrate; placing said metallic substrate in an electroplating bath containing lead ions, tin ions and copper ions; passing electrical current through said bath to deposit a layer of lead-tin-copper on the surface of said substrate; removing said so-plated substrate from said bath; subjecting said so-plated substrate to an aqueous rinsing media to remove electrolyte drag-out from said plating bath from the said plated substrate; bring said aqueous rinse media into contact with a metal selected from the group consisting of lead, tin and alloys thereof for a period of time sufficient to cause copper ions in said media to be replaced by ions of said metal and said copper ions to deposit as copper metal on the remainder of said metal; placing said rinsed substrate in an electroplating bath which is essentially devoid of copper ion and which contains both lead ions and tin ions; and passing electrical current through said electroplating bath to deposit a layer of lead-tin on the surface of said substrate.

The subassembly also includes an extension unit of formed sheet metal and an elongated pin pivotally connecting the unit to the bar. The unit includes an elongated main section and links individually connected to overload sensing devices of each pole. The links are spaced along the length of the main section extending transverse to the longitudinal axis thereof with the latter being generally parallel to the pin.

    摘要: A system is provided for monitoring sputtering deposition parameters and through closed-loop control achieving rapid modification of the parameters to maintain or to obtain a film composition. In reactive sputtering, the sputtering chamber has individual gas pressure controllers for the various gases to be added to the chamber. A holder for a substrate on which the film is to be deposited includes a heater with adjustable control. A differentially pumped quadrupole mass analyzer interconnects with the chamber bottom to receive a sample of plasma ions, measures the ionized species existing in the plasma and generates signals related to the film composition. A controller responsive to the quadrupole analyzer actuation adjusts the pressure of the one or more reactive or non-reactive gases being provided to the chamber, and/or controls other deposition parameters, such as substrate temperature or other plasma features.

    摘要: A system for priming liquid ink writing instruments such as ink jet writers and capillary ink pens is disclosed. A source of ink is pressurized to force ink through the ink jet or other pen so that a small droplet is formed at the jet or pen outlet. As the drop forms at the jet or pen, it is eventually drawn away into an adjacent orifice, due to capillary action. An integrated priming pump serves both to pressurize the ink source to form the ink droplet and to apply a vacuum to the orifice to remove the ink drawn away by capillary action. A pressure release valve ensures that the ink jet or pen is not overpressurized during priming. In ink jet applications, the drop removal orifice is formed as a portion of the droplet charging ring.

    摘要: An electrically powered service vehicle having a plurality of programmable electrical stations is exemplified by a food service vehicle for use with food serving trays including internal heating elements for providing localized areas of heat on the trays for maintaining food placed thereon at a desired temperature. The vehicle has a plurality of storage compartments, each of which holds a plurality of the food serving trays in vertically spaced relation to each other. An on-board d-c. power source is connected to the heating elements within the trays via a plurality of electrical contacts within each storage compartment. A d-c. drive motor for propelling the vehicle is selectively connected to the power source through a drive control. The electrical contacts within the storage compartment are positioned to engage corresponding contacts on the trays when the trays are inserted into the storage compartments. The electrical contacts within the storage compartments are part of a plurality of controllable power circuits associated with each tray station within the various compartments for supplying separately controllable power to each individual tray heater, and manually operable programming means are connected to each power circuit and generate control signals to enable or disable each separate circuit to permit the programming of the various tray stations within the storage compartments. A resilient bumper is provided on the front of the vehicle, and bumper switch means are actuated in the event the bumper contacts an external object, with the switch de-energizing the drive motor through the drive control. The d-c. power source also powers an air blower which forces air through an inlet means in the rear wall of each storage compartments and directs a stream of forced air forwardly through the storage compartment on the heated side of the tray. A door covering the front of the storage compartment forms an air outlet adjacent the side wall of the storage compartment on the heated side of the trays so that the forwardly flowing stream of forced air exits through the door.

A short connection section is provided between the auxiliary equipment and main bus, and contains a first gas barrier support insulator. A filtered gas conduit extends around the first gas barrier and a further gas conduit extends from the filtered conduit into the housing of the second barrier insulator.

    摘要: The force transducer includes an essentially symmetrical, beam flexure of generally rectangular platelike construction, one of the edge surfaces being provided with a strain gage. A continuous Z-shaped slotlike passage is formed through the thickness of the beam flexure between its major surface areas, with one cross bar of the "Z" preferably parallel to the edge carrying the strain gage. An enclosing housing supports the beam flexure via a pair of pin members extending through openings provided in the beam flexure and located at one side of the diagonal portion of the "Z". External forces are applied to the beam flexure via a further pin member extending through an opening provided on the other side of the diagonal portion of the "Z". Forces to be measured are applied substantially solely in planes parallel to the major surface planes of the beam flexure. An undersized free-floating pin is located within an enlarged bore provided in the center of the diagonal portion of the "Z" to prevent both operation beyond the most accurate range and damage in the event of exposure to an excessively large force.
