Abstract:
In a consumable electrode arc welding process different combinations of the various parameters (open circuit arc voltage, wire feed speed, series inductance, shielding gas) are stored on a plug board by interconnecting each input bus with preselected output buses. The input buses are connected through a selector switch to a voltage source. As the selector switch is moved through its different positions a voltage is applied to the different input buses in turn. The output buses are connected to relays which control the selection of the different parameters.

A HIGH PRESSURE CONTAINER, FOR EXAMPLE FOR HYDROSTATIC EXTRISON HAS A PLUNGER FOR GENERATING HIGH HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE IN THE CONTAINE AND ALSO HAS A MOVABLE WALL PORTION DEFINED BY A SURFACE OF A FLOATING MOVABLE MEMBER. AN OPPOSITE SURFACE OF THE FLATING MEMBER OF LARGER AREA FORMS A MOVABLE WALL SURFACE IN A LOWER PRESSURE CHAMBER. CONSEQUENTLY, THE PRESSURE IN THE LOWER PRESSURE CHAMBER IS ALWAYS LESS THAN BUT PROPORTIONAL TO THE PRESSURE IN THE HIGH PRESSURE CHAMBNER. THE LOWER PRESSURE THUS GENERATED IS APPLIED AROUND THE OUTER CYLINDRICAL WALL SURFACE OF THE HIGH PRESSURE CHAMBER. IN THIS WAY, TENSILE HOOP STRESSES IN THE CYLINDRICAL WALL CAN BE ELIMINATED THROUGHOUT A WORKING CYCLE WITHIN THE HIGH PRESSURE CHAMBER. THE LIFE OF THE HIGH PRESSURE CHAMBER IS INCREASED SINCE THE RISK OF FATIGUE FAILURE IS REDUCED.

FLUOROCARBON ELASTOMERS ARE CURED BY HEATING IN THE PRESENCE OF TRIETHYLENETETRAMINE, PREFERABLY IN THE PRESENCE OF P-PHENYLENE DIAMINE AS A CURING AGENT. THE ELASTOMER CAN BE PLASTICIZED, PREFERABLY WITH SULPHUR PENTAFLUOROCHLORIDE TETRAFLUOROETHYLENE TELOMER OR A GLYCOL.
