Abstract:
A process for the production of urea including reacting ammonia and carbon dioxide in a urea synthesis reactor at elevated temperature and pressure to form urea and ammonium carbamate followed by decomposing the ammonium carbamate into gaseous carbon dioxide and ammonia in a thin film heater at the same temperature and pressure as in the urea synthesis reactor, recycling the ammonia and carbon dioxide to the urea synthesis reactor and recovering an aqueous urea solution.
Abstract:
A process is disclosed whereby butyl rubber of high molecular weight and excellent physical characteristics is readily prepared by copolymerizing isobutylene and isoprene in the presence of a catalyst system consisting of: A. A METALORGANIC COMPOUND (E.G., Al Et2 Cl); and B. AN ORGANIC COMPOUND HAVING FROM 1 TO 24 CARBON ATOMS AND AN ELECTRON AFFINITY VALUE IN THE RANGE FROM 0.3 TO 2 ELECTRON VOLTS (E.G., 1.3.5.-TRINITROBENZENE).
Abstract:
1. THE METHOD OF PREPARING, AS END PRODUCTS, CAPROLACTAM AND DICYCLOHEXYL KETONE WHEREIN AN ALKALI METAL SALT OF E-CYCLOHEXYL AMIDOCAPROIC ACID IS PYROLYZED BY HEATING TO A TEMPERATURE IN THE RANGE OF 300-500*C. AND A DISTILLATE CONTAINING SAID END PRODUCTS IS RECOVERED.
Abstract:
A process is described whereby carbonic acid esters, i.e., alkyl, aryl and cycloalkyl carbonates, are prepared by reacting an alcohol with oxygen and carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalyst selected from copper complexed with an organic molecule.
Abstract:
Di- or polynuclear heterocyclic compounds are prepared through an oxidative dehydrocyclization of a substituted monocyclic aromatic compound.
Abstract:
PROCESS FORPRODUCING INDOLE AND ITS DERIVATIVES BY OXIDIZING AROMATIC AMINES WITH AN ORAGANIC NITROCOMPOUND AT TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 300*C. TO 700*C. IN THE VAPOR PHASEIN THE PRESENCE OF CONTACT MASSES.
Abstract:
ALPHA OLEFINS ARE POLYMERIZED IN AN ACTIVATED, ANHYDROUS HALOGENATED HYDROCARBON. THE ANHYDROUS HALOGENATED HYDROCARBON IS ACTIVATED BY PASSING THROUGH IT AN ELECTRIC CURRENT USING AN ALUMINUM OR ALUMINUM ALLOY ANODE. THE ALPHA OLEFIN IS THEN PASSED INTO THE ACTIVATED HALOGENATED HYDROCARBON AND POLYMERIZED.
Abstract:
INDOLES, BENZOTHIOPHENES AND BENZOFURANS ARE PREPARED BY OXIDATIVE DEHYDROCYCLIZATION OF SUBSTITUTED AROMATIC COMPOUNDS IN THE PRESENCE OF AN OXYGEN-CONTAINING GAS AND AN ACTIVATED SILICA CATALYST.
Abstract:
An apparatus for automatically determining the compression strength of spheroidal materials comprises an electromagnet having a vertically moving element and adjustment means to provide an air gap, a power winding for exciting the moving element magnetically coupled to a control winding which generates a pulse stopping the exciting current to the power winding when the spheroidal material breaks and means for amplifiying and detecting the pulse generated by the control winding and correlating the value of the excitation current with the compression strength of the sample.
Abstract:
A process for disproportionating olefins is disclosed which employs a catalyst which includes tungsten and bismuth in the form of oxides or other forms.
