摘要: To shorten a required estimation time while keeping an estimation precision in an object environment given for estimating propagation characteristics with a ray launching method. In the case where a ray is propagated within a given observation area, and collides with a barrier residing on its path, a space in the vicinity of the ray is divided into a plurality of partial spaces until a predetermined condition is satisfied. The space in the vicinity of the ray that is considered to cause a degradation in the estimation precision is divided in reflection until there is less influence of degradation, whereby each of the subdivided partial spaces can be handled individually, so that the estimation precision of radio wave propagation characteristics can be made better than a conventional method. On the other hand, in the case where there is possibly less influence of degradation in the estimation precision, the space is not divided, whereby if a ray is radiated from a transmitting antenna coarsely, the total number of rays is reduced below that of the conventional method, so that a total calculation time taken for a propagation estimation can be shortened.

摘要: The invention relates to a coding apparatus for embedding second data into first data without deteriorating the first data and a decoding apparatus for decoding coded data into original first data and second data without deteriorating those data. The invention provides a coding apparatus which has a memory for storing at least partial data of first data, and embeds second data into the first data by rearranging, according to the second data, the at least partial data of the first data that is stored in the memory. The invention also provides a coding apparatus for decoding coded data in which second data is embedded and at least partial data of the coded data has been subjected to rearrangement by using one of a plurality of rearrangement patterns. The decoding apparatus calculates correlation between adjacent data for each rearrangement pattern, and decodes the original first data and the second data according to a rearrangement pattern that is determined based on the correlation.

摘要: A card connector defining one card-accommodating slot adapted to accommodate a thin card, such as a smart card, and another card-accommodating slot adapted to accommodate a thick card, such as an IC card. The insertion of thin cards completely into the card-accommodating slot which accommodates thick cards is prevented by a member which pivots into the thick card-accommodating slot. The member includes a cam surface adapted to be contacted by a thick card upon insertion into the thick card-accommodating slot and a groove adapted to accommodate a thin card upon insertion into the thick card-accommodating slot. The member is pivotally mounted by a shaft to a card guiding arm defining the thick card-accommodating slot.

摘要: A picture reducing circuit 1 reduces a supplied original picture. An upper hierarchical level picture memory 2 stores an input upper hierarchical level picture. A predictive tap obtaining circuit 3 extracts a predictive tap from the upper hierarchical level picture stored in the upper hierarchical level picture memory 2 and outputs the extracted predictive tap to a predictive coefficient calculating circuit 4, a pixel value updating circuit 5, and a mapping circuit 6. The predictive coefficient calculating circuit 4 generates an observation equation using the predictive tap as student data and pixels of an original picture corresponding thereto as teacher data, solves the observation equation, and generates predictive coefficients. The pixel value updating circuit 5 generates an observation equation using the predictive coefficient as student data received from the predictive coefficient calculating circuit 4 and original picture data corresponding thereto as teacher data, solves the observation equation, and simultaneously obtains optimum values of a plurality of updated pixel values corresponding to given coefficients.

摘要: After an activation of the CPU in a peripheral device in a computer system, a determination is made whether an external power supply input or operation of a software switch is inputted as a trigger. Based on this determination, the peripheral device is left ON or turned OFF so as to be in the same state as when power was last removed. When it is not necessary to supply the power to the peripheral device, the power to the CPU is turned OFF to reduce power consumption.

摘要: An information processing apparatus having a resume function which can maintain security even when a plurality of users use a common information processing apparatus. A work state at a power-off time is preserved together with a work state name including a user's ID in a different area in a plurality of preservation areas for the resume operation function on a main memory for each user. When a power source is turned on again, data in the preservation area corresponding to the user's ID is used to reproduce the work state of the user at the power-off time. A work state preservation file on a file server apparatus in a network has a resume function which does not need battery back-up. When this information processing apparatus is used, a work state at a power-off time can be independently preserved and reproduced for each of users, thereby realizing a resume function that is excellent in terms of security and utility.

摘要: In a semiconductor memory device of a divided bit line system, read signals from memory cell blocks are sense-amplified together by a single differential bit line sense amplifier. The bit line sense amplifier includes a plurality of first transistors, the base electrodes of which are connected to local bit lines of the memory cell blocks, the emitter electrodes of which are commonly connected to corresponding main bit lines, and the collector electrodes of which are connected to a first power supply node, a second transistor, which forms a differential pair with each of the first transistors, the base electrode of which is applied with a reference bias potential, and the emitter electrode of which is connected to the main bit lines, a current source connected between the emitter electrode of the second transistor, and a second power supply node, and a load circuit connected between the collector electrode of the second transistor and the first power supply node. The main bit lines with a heavy load can be driven by the emitters having a large driving force, and the outputs from the memory cell blocks can be sensed without going through selectors, thus attaining high-speed read access.
