摘要: An optical reader for optically reading recorded code data and determining whether the reading is successful or not. In the optical reader, a frequency of coincidence of read data from start of reading is compared with a predetermined reference frequency when it is determined that the reading is successful after the reading of the code data is repeatedly tried to determine a stability of reading, so that a signal showing a result of the determination is output.

摘要: A processional travel control apparatus allows processional travel with a group of vehicles including a leading vehicle and a following vehicle automatically following the leading vehicle. An object vehicle includes a device for sending a request to separate from or join the processional travel, to the leading vehicle. The leading vehicle includes a device for permitting or rejecting the request from the object vehicle. When the leading vehicle permits the request, the object vehicle is switched by a mode switching device between automatic driving, in which the following vehicle automatically follows the leading vehicle, ans manual driving by a driver.

摘要: A clutch disk assembly (1) is provided between an input shaft and an output shaft to selectively transmit rotation therebetween. The clutch disk assembly (1) is provided with a dampening mechanism (4) to provide smooth transition during engagement and disengagement of the clutch disk assembly. The dampening mechanism (4) has a more durable second retaining plate (32) with a rectangular window portion for transmitting torque. This second retaining plate (32) has a second receptacle (36) to support a first spring (16). The second retaining plate (32) includes a disk-like plate main body. The second receptacle (36) is formed from that plate main body. The second receptacle (36) projects in an axial direction from the plate main body. The second receptacle (36) includes an axially supporting part (36a) and a circular supporting part (36b). The axially supporting part (36a) supports an axially outside part of the first spring (16) and continues in a radial direction. The circular supporting part (36b) supports both end parts of the first spring (16), and is formed on both circular ends of the axially supporting part (36a). A second hole (36f) is formed at both corners of an inner circumferential side of the axially supporting part (36a). The second holes (36f) are elongated holes that extend in a radial direction.

摘要: When vehicles run in a platoon, a status indicative of a malfunction or the like of a following vehicle is transmitted to a leading vehicle, so that the leading vehicle can take an appropriate action. Specifically, an automatic vehicle following control system controls a plurality of unattended following vehicles, each comprising an electric vehicle, to run in tandem in follow mode to an attended leading vehicle. Each of said following vehicles has a remaining capacity detecting unit for detecting a remaining capacity of a battery on the following vehicle, and transmitting information of the detected remaining capacity via vehicle-to-vehicle antennas to the leading vehicle. The remaining capacities of the batteries on the following vehicles are displayed on a display unit of the leading vehicle. When a remaining capacity of a battery on an electric vehicle is lowered, since the maximum output power of a motor on the electric vehicle is reduced, the electric vehicle cannot run in a platoon at a high speed. If the remaining capacity of the battery on the electric vehicle is detected as being lower than a predetermined level, then the speed of the leading vehicle is automatically lowered to enable the following vehicles to run continuously in a platoon at a relatively low speed.

摘要: A clutch disk assembly 1 includes an output rotary member 4, an intermediate member 3, first springs 7, a damper 8, plates 12 and 13, and third springs 5. The intermediate member 3 is disposed radially outside the output rotary member 4. The first springs 7 are arranged between the output rotary member 4 and the intermediate member 3, and are circumferentially compressed when a hub and the intermediate member 3 rotate relatively to each other in a first stage of relative rotary displacement. A damper 8 is disposed between the output rotary member 4 and the intermediate member 3, and includes second springs 10 that are not compressed in the first stage of relative rotary displacement but are compressed in a second stage of relative rotary displacement. The torsion angle corresponding to the second stage is larger than a torsion angle corresponding to the first stage. The plates 12 and 13 are arranged on the axial side of the intermediate member 3. The third springs 5 circumferentially and elastically couple the intermediate member 3 to the plates 12 and 13. The above configuration suppresses a jumping phenomenon between the first and second stages.

摘要: A method for the hydrogenation of coal tar pitch which comprises subjecting said coal tar pitch containing toluene insolubles to slight hydrogenation in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst having carried on a refractory inorganic oxide carrier at least one member selected from the class consisting of elemental metals, belonging to Groups VI B and VIII in the Periodic Table and oxides and sulfides thereof, under the conditions of 280.degree. to 400.degree. C. of reaction temperature, 20 to 200 kg/cm.sup.2. G of hydrogen pressure, 0.1 to 10 hr.sup.-1 of LHSV, and 500 to 2,000 Nl/liter of hydrogen to liquid ratio, and a catalyst therefor. The "slight" hydrogenation is hydrogenation to a degree such that the difference of hydrogen to carbon atomic ratio between the untreated coal tar pitch and the hydrogenated coal tar pitch falls in the range of 0.03 to 0.5. The coal tar pitch can be coal tar pitch itself, coal tar pitch pretreated for the removal of organic sodium compounds, or pretreated for the removal of quinoline insolubles and, preferably, the coal tar pitch has a density in the range of 1.13 to 1.17 g/cm.sup.2 at 40 degrees C.

摘要: An image reading device includes a reading unit, a background member, and processing circuitry. The reading unit includes alight source to emit light to a passage area through which an object passes and an imaging device to capture reflected light of the light emitted to generate a visible image and an invisible image. The background member is disposed opposite the light source across the passage area. The processing circuitry is configured to: detect a change in an image characteristic due to a change in an optical characteristic of the reading unit, in invisible images obtained by capturing of invisible marks on the background member; determine a correction amount of an image characteristic to be used for correcting an image of the object generated by the imaging device, based on the change in the image characteristic detected; and correct the image characteristic based on the correction amount determined.
