摘要: A polishing slurry is formed of a silica-dispersed solution obtained by dispersing, in an aqueous solvent, a fumed silica having an average primary particle size of from 5 to 30 nm, the silica-dispersed solution exhibiting a light scattering index (n) of from 3 to 6 at a silica concentration of 1.5% by weight, and the fumed silica dispersed therein having an average secondary particle size of from 30 to 100 nm on the weight basis. The polishing slurry is produced by pulverizing, using a high-pressure homogenizer, a silica-dispersed solution obtained by dispersing a fumed silica in an aqueous solvent, so that the fumed silica possesses an average secondary particle size of from 30 to 100 nm on the weight basis. The polishing slurry is used for polishing semiconductor wafers and inter-layer dielectric in an IC process.

摘要: A fixing unit has a fixing roller and an endless belt. When a recording sheet bearing a toner image not yet fixed passes between the fixing roller and the endless belt, the fixing unit fixes the toner image onto the recording sheet in the nip area. The endless belt is a film-like belt consisting of a base film and a layer on the base film, the layer being made of a composite material containing porous material and elastomer. A fixing unit is thus provided which is free from the problems of image offset and lifetime shortening, and can realize the increase of fixing speed and/or size reduction.

摘要: Sensors such as switches are arranged to detect the insertion of a key into a key cylinder, the rotation of the key to one or more operative positions, the position of a transmission shift level, the depressions of a brake pedal and the like, and to produce signals which are processed by logic circuits in a manner to determine the energization mode and timing of the solenoid or the like motor arrangement in a manner which locks or releases a safety button which must be pressed before the steering column of a vehicle can be locked. The mechanism which performs the locking operation is mounted on the exterior of the housing in which the key cylinder is disposed, thus facilitating assembly.

摘要: A method of cleaning the bottom of a feeding channel supplied fresh water to be fed to fish such as fry of salmon and trout is disclosed in which a baffle means for preventing the flow of water in the feeding channel is maintained to the orientation such as to extend upwardly from the height position spaced apart upwardly from the bottom to block the flow of water in the channel while the baffle means is moved in the channel from the upstream side to the downstream side, thereby collecting the deposit in the channel toward the downstream side of the channel due to the flow of water passing through the gap between the bottom and a lower edge of the baffle means. An apparatus for cleaning the bottom of a feeding channel comprises a baffle means disposed in the feeding channel and movable from the upstream side to the downstream side so as to block the flow of water in the channel which is supplied with fresh water thereto and a means for maintaining the baffle means to the orientation such as to extend upwardly from the height position spaced apart upwardly from the bottom to block the water flow in the channel while the baffle means is moved in the channel.
