A double-layer mask layer is formed on a single crystal silicon substrate, and anisotropic etching and isotropic etching are carried out using a first mask layer so as to form a concave portion that is a little smaller than the size of a desired microlens mold. Isotropic etching is then carried out using a second mask layer so as to enlarge the concave portion, thereby obtaining a microlens mold having desired dimensions.

The magnetic disk drive has a suspension including a base plate connected to a carriage, a load beam fitted with a slider, and a fine actuator which is provided on the base plate and finely moves the load beam. The configuration is such that the shortest track travel time using the fine actuator is larger than the inverse number of the local maximum of a flying-height fluctuation frequency of the suspension by the fine actuator. Also, the configuration is such that the shortest track travel time using the fine actuator is larger than the inverse number of the natural frequency of first torsion mode of the suspension by the fine actuator.

The magnetic head supporting mechanism has mounted thereon an integrated circuit (IC) for amplifying an information write/read signal of the magnetic head unit, and a control circuit is connected to the IC. A recording frequency is controlled according to the radial position of the IC on the magnetic disk by the control circuit.
