Abstract:
The present invention comprises a system for the control of multiple remote resources. A plurality of user stations, each comprising a keyboard, video screen and a mouse, communicate with a server management unit. The server management unit is comprised of a server chassis, matrix switch and a switch server. Remote resources are each connected to a port of a multiplexer or to a server interface. A user station connects to a remote resource by making a request to the server management unit. The switch server identifies the multiplexer or server interface port to which the resource is connected from a database. A request is made to a remote interface server connected to the multiplexer and server interfaces and the remote interface server connects the appropriate ports of the server management unit and the multiplexer or server interface.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a dental mount for receiving and retaining a plurality of different dental ceramic blocks used in dental restoration treatments, wherein the dental mount comprises a substantially flat front face having a plurality of dental ceramic block receiving holes located thereon; each of the dental ceramic block receiving holes being dimensioned to form a retaining fit with any one of the different dental ceramic blocks. The advantage of providing a dental mount with dedicated holes for retaining any one of the dental ceramic blocks is that the dental mount can be used to comparatively present all the different types of dental ceramic blocks next to one another in an organised and graded manner so that a dentist may make quick and accurate comparisons between the different types of dental ceramic blocks. Furthermore, the dentist can quickly assess their stock levels by glancing at the dental mount. A further advantage is that the dental ceramic blocks are securely held apart from one another on the dental mount and therefore cannot damage one another when they are moved or transported.
Abstract:
A method of detecting when a user logs into a UNIX computer, of determining if the user's local log-in name should be replaced by a network log-in name for network authentication, of replacing the local log-in name if so determined, and of sending the log-in name with any other required authentication information to an authenticator so the user may be authenticated and allowed to log in to the computer. Other embodiments are also described.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel human secreted proteins and isolated nucleic acids containing the coding regions of the genes encoding such proteins. Also provided are vectors, host cells, antibodies, and recombinant methods for producing human secreted proteins. The invention further relates to diagnostic and therapeutic methods useful for diagnosing and treating diseases, disorders, and/or conditions related to these novel human secreted proteins.
Abstract:
The present invention encompasses albumin fusion proteins. Nucleic acid molecules encoding the albumin fusion proteins of the invention are also encompassed by the invention, as are vectors containing these nucleic acids, host cells transformed with these nucleic acids vectors, and methods of making the albumin fusion proteins of the invention and using these nucleic acids, vectors, and/or host cells. Additionally the present invention encompasses pharmaceutical compositions comprising albumin fusion proteins and methods of treating, preventing, or ameliorating diseases, disorders or conditions using albumin fusion proteins of the invention.
Abstract:
An apparatus for conditioning mammalian blood for subsequent use in a medical procedure includes a cabinet having a secure environment and a door providing the only access to the environment. An input system transports a blood charge from a source to the cabinet and a flask is removably contained in the secure environment and coupled to the charge input system to receive the charge. Stressors are coupled to the cabinet and positioned for operation to create a conditioned charge in the flask. An output system is coupled to the flask and includes a receiver for the conditioned charge. The apparatus includes an automated control system operable upon closing the door to lock the door and to then condition the charge, and to then cause the charge to move from the flask to the receiver.

Abstract:
According to at least one embodiment, a method comprises implementing a distributed lock manager (DLM) within a cluster. The method further comprises using locks of the DLM to manage notification to at least one monitoring cluster process of a change in status of at least one monitored cluster process.
