An inhibiter switch is provided with a movable body 1 rotatable in accordance with an operating position of an automatic transmission device. The movable body 1 is supported rotatably by a cover 2 and a pole base 3 having magnetic sensors 9 disposed therein. A conductive body having a terminal 7b projected into a connector section 3c at one side thereof and a body section 7a electrically connected to the magnetic sensors 9 and exposed from a bottom surface 3d, is insert molded into the pole base 3. The pole base 3 forms an offset surface 3e exposing the body section 7a as a connection location with the conductive body 7 from the bottom surface 3d. The pole base 3 has notches 3f, 3g, 3h in which the magnetic sensors 9 are disposed, and a notch 3i in which a substrate 6 is disposed. The notches 3f, 3g, 3h, 3i are formed at the periphery of the offset surface 3e. The pole base 3 also forms a guide 3j for disposing the magnetic sensors 9 within the offset surface 3e. The inhibitor switch with this construction has contact sections formed with magnetic sensors, resulting in a low manufacturing cost and a high operating precision.

The cleaning members can be easily replaced with new ones without requiring special skill.

An automatic transmission, for a vehicle with an engine, includes a hydraulic fluid pump which supplies pressurized hydraulic fluid. The engine load is detected, and the pump output is controlled so as to increase with increase of the load on the engine. If the pump is one whose output per one revolution of its input member is variable, then its output may be thus controlled by increasing its output per one revolution along with increase in engine load. And, if the pump is a variable capacity type vane type hydraulic fluid pump the output of which per one revolution of its input member is controlled by varying the eccentric position of a controlling member thereof, then its output per one revolution may be thus controlled by detecting the eccentric position of the controlling member using a sensor, and by varying this eccentric position in a feedback manner to achieve a target eccentric position which is determined to give a pump output per one revolution varying as an increasing function of engine load. Alternatively, if the pump is a fixed capacity type electrically driven type hydraulic fluid pump the output of which per one revolution of its input member is substantially constant, then its output may be thus controlled by varying the rotation speed of its input member as an increasing function of engine load. A system for implementing this method is also disclosed.

A transmission control system includes a pressure control system which controls the gear transmission mechanism by selectively supplying those pressures and possibly others thereto, a lockup clutch control valve which according to its switched position controls the engagement of the lockup clutch and which is switched to its engage position by a control pressure, and a lockup clutch interrupt valve, which selectively transmits the first pressure to the lockup clutch control valve as the control pressure, which is supplied with the second pressure which when present switches it positively to its non communicating condition, and which is also supplied with governor pressure which in the absence of the second pressure switches it to the communicating condition when this governor pressure is higher than a certain value, and otherwise leaves it in the non communicating condition.
